PS3: the new Dreamcast?

I have heard the PS3 is the new Dreamcast. Its technically the best console but it has the worst sales (mainstream consoles). I don't think it is because a PS4 is basically confirmed and sales probably won't pick up until about 2010.

The most expensive console, only been out for 6 months that has sold quite a few million consoles is good. It is doing fine. There is no "Dreamcast" this generation. The PS3 sales will skyrocket near the begging of fall with the amount of amazing exclusives coming out, especially MGS4.

This is no Dreamcast, and it never will be. The worst case scenario is that it pulls a Gamecube (crap 3rd party support, good 1st party and not so hot sales). But considering that the PS3 has sold better than both the PS1 and PS2 in the same timeframe, I'd say it's doing fine.

Would having more games be helpful? Hell yes, and they're on their way. It's just taking them awhile to get to the party.

Now I don't think any console is gonna pull a PS2 (most of the market share), I think things are gonna be pretty even. My prediction for market share go as so: 30%, 33%, and 37%. Now who fills in those spots is unkown.

Ever since the gamers day convention I have been wanting to get a PS3 very badly. I knew I was going to get on eventually, but havnt yet because of the lack of games at this point. But, the games coming out are orgasmic. PS3 sales will boost like crazy this fall/holiday season

Supposedly LBP and Quake Wars won't come out until '08. LBP should be early '08 (1st quarter), while Quake Wars, I have no idea.

Quake wars PC comes out July 2nd, and the console version is slated to TBA 2007.

Alot of people in the industry have been saying things like this... and I tend to agree. It's now starting to show that one single console will probably not "dominate" in the same sense that the PS2 did years ago.

The PS2 proved in the last generation that games made the system take off, and not its raw processing power... because let's face it, the Xbox was the higher powered console, and it still couldn't surpass the sales lead that the PS2 held over all of the other consoles.

And in my opinion, the Dreamcast wasn't such a horrible console... Sega just didn't have a good marketing technique, or third party software support... reminds me very much of what happened with the GameCube's "slide from grace".

Like everyone has been saying the PS3 is doing just fine. RIGHT NOW the 360 is better bcause of the better online (even tho you have to pay) and better games at the moment. The PS3 is just taking the stairs while the others are taking the elevator.
