Why do you think people cheat in this game?

You guys are ridiculous. You think people cheat because they suck at sports? Sports aren't worth anything. I'll refer you to a very well written article by Maddox.

As to why people cheat, it's simply so that other people think they're good. I really don't see the big deal with cheating. It's not very prolific. If they banned all the campers but left the cheaters untouched, it would to significantly more for this game.

I've considered getting Code 9 myself, but I'm too lazy to get a codebreaker. Why? So when [420] bigDaddy_187 is lean glitching on fault I can even the playing field, become invincible, kill him, and then dance on his body and taunt while the rest of his team tries to kill me. For the rest of the game, he'd be the only one I kill. Is there anything ethically wrong with that? I don't think so.

I've seen proof of that too.....

I was on Devilo's Road (Large) Suppression Respawn. I was on Mercenaries, and there was this SEAL. The name was K-5, I believe. He was running some type of glitch that makes it so you have to pop this guy in the head about 15-20 times before he'll acutally go down. My self and one other Mercenary took this guy on close-quarters, and he SUCKED!!!!!!! It took us a about a minute to hit him enough times to drop him, but I couldn't believe his aim was off so bad. I laughed at him, and I figure that the only experience playing the game must be from cheating with it.

After that we started using shotguns, and we had fun just knocking him down over and over again. Of course, then he ran the boot glitch and kicked everybody out of the room. I think we hurt his man-gina or something...lol.

I was in game like that. It was killing feilds and someone the Seals was using codemajic. He was spwan camping us and someone on our team said "brb I'll make him stop." About a minute later the guy on our has his codemajic going and he's using an auto shotgun. He goes after the guy with codes on Seals and keeps shooting him knocking him over and over so he couldn't move(he didn't die because of infint life). The guy on our team used his codes to counter someones else with codes so everyone else could play and have fun and that is the ONLY time I aprrove someone to use codes or a cheat device.

simple people cheat and most are young kids because they aren't mature enough to understand how life really is, that being said let me explain. in real life not the socom world you don't do something intentioinal and flagrant unless you're prepared to carry an arss whipping and thats the explanation. sure in the work environment it's about competition sure but in the real world expect consequences and reprecussions when it happens. i was in law enforcement for 6 years and thats like a shark tank everyone against everyone to get rank. but you lose alot of friends and for no good reason especially if you don't get the promotion. so in socom we as players will never meet unless we already knew each other before we started playing. so cheaters are like fukkk it i'll do what i want. i wish i could meet some of those code 9/magic and lag switch using fukkks i would give them a good arss whipping. but thats the reason no fear of anything zipper or the people they're cheating.

Reasons why the cheat:
1. They suck at the game and need cheats to do better
2. They have nothing better to do with their lives
3. They are immature (mostly younger teens/kids) and do not care how they ruin a game for anyone else
4. No morals

I agree. I love to see that. I think it should just be used to counter and only vs the cheater, not the rest of the team who is playing fair.
Now sometimes a guy isnt really cheating, its you shooting badly. How many times have you engages someone, shot him up and said he's gotta be cheating only to have your teamate pop him dead?
The only way you know some is cheating is if they have a really goos record like 20-0.
Either he sniping fomr a really good spot or he a cheater. period. Cuz I am pretty sure even the absolutely best SOCOM vet wont survive a 3-1 in a circle dance.

I agree, I have no problem with it when you are using it to remove a soft spotter or someone cheating in some way, but I also agree you have to be careful before accusing people of glitching. Everytime I am on I hear people accusing really good players of glicthing without anything to back it up, just that they keep getting owned by so in so. I think more often than not people are perceiving someone glitching when in fact it is just normal in game lag or a product of their own bad internet connection. Sometimes it's obvious and often glicthers and cheaters will turn it off and on so as not to make it ovbious and risk getting booted, but in my experience, it seems people are a little to quick to play the cheating card.

I hate to generalize, but a lot of glicthing is kids, why they do it, some I think do it is just because at that age you don't have much control over things and using cheater discs gives them some feeling of control in their lives, but I'm no shrink. All I know, I play pretty late night during the week and you don't see many cheaters on then, but at 4 in the afternoon they are all over the respawn rooms. What does that tell ya?

Remember not to automatically think someone is cheating just because they are doing really good.

On Devil's Road respawn, I've went 18-0 before getting dropped for the first time. It was just because the other side wasn't that experienced, I had a really good weapon that I'm used to (Mercenaries 552 Rifle all the way...baby), and I had a stroke of luck a couple of times during a couple of 2 on 1 firefights.

There are really good players out there. Just look for the real obvious signs of cheating (jumping 300 feet in the air, an M-87 that shoots like a Model 18, etc, etc...)

The lag switches and cord pullers are the worst, since it's so hard to tell if it is intentional or just a bad connection.

They don't cheat because they s*ck at sports. I've cheated with Socom 1 and i play baseball. It's because it's part of every online. People cheat because its there and you can scr*w around and so on. It will never be stopped but it can be slowed down least to say. Cheating ruins the game but what can you do but other then quitin and finding a new room. Cheating pisses people off and thats why its done.
