Gears of War (movie) New Line grabs Gears of War movie rights - Video Game News - Yahoo! Video Games
So it looks like two years from now we will be getting excited for the Gears of War movie. Hopefully they wont screw it up like they did with the DOOM movie. -

Yaaawwwwwn.
It's frustrating how Movies to Games & Games to Movies hardly ever work.
I'm interested in seeing the Locust on the screen. I'm also curious to see who they'll cast for Marcus Fennixx. New Line could definelty learn something from the way 300 was made when they make it. I'm talking about the cloudy atmospheric look.
I"m looking more forward to the Dead Rising movie, even though the Resident Evil Movie Franchise is a steaming pile of dog poo, I'll always give flesh eating Zombie movies a chance. -

The only two games I really wan't to see turn into movies are Metal Gear Solid and God of War. The reason is these two games both have really good stories and a good deal of action.
Even though most people would disagree I think Vin Diesel would be a good Kratos. Krato's character wouldn't take much acting skill (is kind of always pissed off and destuctive, not much depth) but would need to look strong and be somewhat tough. Vin fits that part easily. And since Peter Jackson aint doing the Hobbit I think he would do a really good job directing this one.
Metal Gear Solid also faces some challenges, mainly being who would play Snake. If you are a Metal Gear fan you know probably agree the only person who you would wan't to hear for Snake would be David Hayter. The only probelm is he really looks nothing like Snake. I think they should make a movie with CGI and have Kojima make it since he does such a good job with the games cutscenes. -

Not that I don't like the Metal Gear games, it's just that if Kojima made it, that movie would be like 6 hours long.
A Gears of War movie kind of turns me off. I really like this game, it's an amazing game and this is going to be one hell of a franchise. They should just keep it at that... a game. I play videogames with a grapefruit on my ****. It helps me get in the zone. Check Out These Groups, You Pervert. -

I heard Gears Of War want to make a trilogy. IMO, the movie will ruin the series. -

Will the movie promise to have an unfulfilling climax just as the game? So basically we're going to have the game, just with a couple live-action people because they'll use CGI for pretty much everything? Will Dom run out, do dumbshit and get killed in the movie as much as he does in the game? Gears has a great premise for a video game, but not for a movie. The whole end of the world, us vs them, humanity making a last stand sorta thing's been done a million times over.
What'll really foul this up is when they try to explain why the locusts have guns and futuristic S & M outfits, or when they try to make this into a story about Fenix just trying to get home to his wife and kid.
Video game movies are horrible 99% of the time. I can't even think of a single good one that I've seen, though I've heard that Silent Hill was good. -

I guess, if you're 13, which is probably how old you were when it came out. I remember seeing it and feeling like it was written by a couple of 12 yr. olds. -

On IGN.com they have a big article about God of War being turned into a movie. I think they said universal took rights to it but don't quote me on that. -

The only "end of the world" movie I want to see is either another Aliens movie (based from the books, which if you haven't read them already, you should) and the rumored AVP 2 (I say rumored because I haven't seen or heard hard evidence of it). As for the GoW movie, I should find who actually put that idea into motion, and slap them silly. The story line is for a game, not a movie. And even if they did make one, it would more than likely not have much besides the Locust in common with the game.
Thanks to >Pyro< for the awesome sig. -

Well. I thought that John Travolta would be a good Marcus Fenix. If you look at him in Wild Hogs witht he skull cap on. They would just have to add some make-up. And Silent Hill was a good movie if you were wondering. -

Plus I don't think Travolta will ever do another sci-fi move after Battlefield Earth. | |
