So after awhile of using AIM 6.0, it's rediculously bad on my computer. I don't have that great of a computer so it bogs a lot of **** down just to make one IM noise, to receive an IM, anything. Just to maximize the buddy list when it's minimized. Also, it can't open links in IM windows, IM sounds randomly stop working, and the direct connect/file transfer feature is incredibly worse than in previous versions. When receiving a picture you get it in a different window, but only like a 100x100px version of it, so you have to save it to your computer to see it regularly.

So pretty much, which version of AIM is best, or do you like the most? I pretty much just want something basic, but has direct connect and file transfer.

I have the same problem, I cant open links in the im windows. The noices also go out a lot and dont work. But I still like this version the best.

I have a decent PC and 6.0 doesnt give me any problems at all. I still like the older version a bit better but then again new features= more fun.

Just stay with 5.9, The 6.0 is bad and has a lot of ads. Plus, they keep the latest conversation text when you open the chat window.

Yeah Im using 5.9. My old PC was running AIM 4.x something. It was pretty funny. I hate to update. My skype version is old, YIM is old. The only thing I update is Firefox.

I use old aim.. it's my favorite.. Idk, I just like the features and how non complicated it is

I updated today. I hated it, and changed it back to my old AIM 5.9.

6.0 smells funny.

I'm running 5.9 right now. I had 5.5 something for the longest time to run DeadAIM, but I switched to this now.

I still run 5.5. It's the best build to date, IMO. The new one just has so much silly junk. They are trying to stay in competition with MSN, but MSN did a great job of not forcing you to run crap on your computer just to chat with someone (probably because MSN has the advantage of already having crap on your computer to begin with via Windows OS).

Keeping the previous conversation is something MSN has had for a while and AIM implemented in 6.0 too. I find that to be beneficial...

AIM should really come out with an AIM Lite for people who really don't care about drawing pictures and playing chess with people in Russia. Or I wish Crulean Studios (the maker of Trillian) would just come out with a newer version of their all-in-one program.
