Save My Ipod!

So I've had this problem for awhile, but just now decided to post it, questioning for any help.

Here's my Ipod.

Pretty eh?

Well, after about 5 seconds of being like that, it'll do this
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/2969/imga0099su1.jpg

The only way of getting out of that pixelated hell is to Reset using Menu and the center button, but it still does it immediately after re-booting.

I can't leave it on for any amount of time without it pixelating and freezing up. It didn't start happening until some update I downloaded....and now I can't re-update to the newest because it freezes before it installs. (I've reset the firmware? multiple times, so now I'm trying to upgrade)

I don't know what happened...one day it just started doing this.
It has a good number of warranty days left, but I didn't buy it. My dad found it on a bus, and gave it to the companies lost and found, and then he got it because of nobody reclaiming it. So idk what to do.
(not the worlds biggest fan of Ipods, but then again, it was free)

Any help? Any similar instances of your Ipod doing this and what you did?
I've scoured the internet for any similar cases, but I can't usually find any.

I've never seen this. You say you re-installed the firmware, but did you try reformatting the iPod itself?

Try ilounge.com, they may be of better help. Good community there.

Lucky you getting a free iPod though.

Try sending it in anyway. The least you will get is a note back saying what was wrong with it.

Although I hate iPods and I hope it does a painful death (nothing personal), I would say it was the screen that is messing up.

My Dad's phone back in England did the same thing, he had to get a new screen. ($100)

If you need to replace the screen on an iPod though, I would say you would simply have to get a new one.

I don't think it's the screen though, because it's just fine for a good bit, and then it messes up....without any certain reason.

I've reformatted from the iPod by right clicking on the mass storage device and manually doing so from there.

Might ask at that place though. Or just explore it!

Hurrah for Ome6a!

I knew it was the firmware! Let's see if it will work now!

Oh yeah.

Well, my iPod toughed it out and kept from freezing for just long enough that it updated, and it works just like new!
Other than the hellacious amount of scratches, it's all good!

Just seems their Firmware update messed everything up, but now it's fixed. And up to date with the latest firmware.
