Anyways, my story.

I got a call yesterday at about noon from a friend of mine. She immediately started begging me to stand her spot in line so she could go to work as she was there since yesterday. I was slightly, "Eh" and told her to call back in a couple of hours. I eventually caved after she offered $50 just to stand around. So I made it up to the Super Target where I met her boyfriend and several other guys. Things didn't take long before we all started socializing and enjoying the afternoon. In actuality, it was quite fun and very mature. Not a single person under the age of 18.

Until...

About an hour in, I took a head count, just to see who was getting one. Everyone, including the chick whom's spot I was holding, was getting one to sell. I personally wanted one to play, but that was their perogative. But the final count came to seven people wanting the PS3. The store held eight.

Uh..

Uh...

"Well, ****. I'll be #8 then." I say.
"Nah, we're holding another spot for someone else."
"oh, alright. Cool."

They fail to tell me that they've been holding this spot for this guy for two days, and he didn't wait a minute in the line... Ever. So, several hours pass before I question this guy again. It seemed quite fishy and downright unfair.

This time, I get no real answer as they try to blow me off. Two guys were on my side, telling me I should be the 8th. 3v4, seems like a no win situation. So, I took a nap, woke up, and left.

The guy showed up right as I was leaving, and I just couldn't feel anything else but annoyance. Hopefully, stores will avoid the line-up situation by simply passing out vouchers two days prior. Or even, holding contests for publicity. Something.

That part in Veins' first post about that guy running into the pole was priceless, I cracked up. Do people close their eyes when they are running now-a-days?

Personally, I think the whole PS3 thing has been totally ridiculous to an extent that no one has seen before.

Shooting someone, corrupt employees, and all that crap. Yes, it sounds like the FBI's life story, but this is a video game console we are talking about.

If I was waiting in line, and a guy came with a gun, I would just say instead of killing me, just take my spot.

But no, refuse, and get shot. Plus, 20 people in a line against 2 people with guns they wouldn't have used if 20 people rushed them, unbelievable.

I'm tired of hearing about the PS3 to be honest. It was fine when they were telling us all about the console, but if they would have told us what people would go through to get one, the lines would have been a lot shorter.

I wanted to go laugh at the people at Wal-Mart trying to get one today, but I had my senior class field trip so I had to get up at 5:30am so I was laughing at my own stupidity most of the day.

I'm not going to lie though, I want a PS3. But I'm not willing to pay the money, get shot, stand in a huge line, or anything like that to get one.

Veins, if you make a giveaway like you said, the forums' population of suck-ups would rise a few percent.

Cheesy, someone tried that on us aswell...it didnt work. You have to be THERE at the time or you dont get in at all. I cant believe people think they can get away with that crap.

Re-sell the 20 gig on ebay for a thousand like everyone else is, then wait for the next shipment of 60's. It's ridiculous right now on ebay, I saw a few go for $3000 a while ago... but they seem to be more in the $1000 range now.

This is crazy, people getting shot, robbed, running into poles etc.

A few things to say. 1: People at the stores should hand out tickets to the people there in line, not two for you so you can give one to your friend or any bs like that. People wait there in lines for hours or even days to get one, only to find they can't get one at all. If I had more people with me and someone said they were holding a spot for someone who hasnt even stepped foot in the carpark, let along the line, I would, simply put, thump 'em.

As for the situation at EB, My best bet would be someone in the store, or even 2-3 workers/mansgers were trying to hold there own, or one for a friend/family member and decided to ignorantly and selfishly bump people down the line. I would have given them hell, just like you did Libertine. I got into a fight because some kid jumped the line at the canteen because the selfish little **** wanted the last sausage roll, he wasnt concerned that I wouldn't get one so I, basically yelled at him and pbulically embarresed him. He wanted to fight but I don't fight noobs that dont stand a chance, i.e: him.

You guys seriously need some police or security over there, some sort of control to stop this violence going on. People getting publically robbed in broad daylight is just crap. People on the brink of riot running to get in line for one and then...running into a pole. People getting shot for their PS3 and/or their money is just ridiculous.

I know for a fact, when we get the systems here in March '07, there is going to be police guarding on the lines and surrounding areas, and I'm pretty sure they will have full authorisation to search any suspicous charactors for weapons, guns, knives, shanks etc. There will be security companies also, keeping 24 hour watch to make sure all is in order, no-one jumping the que, shooting, bashing, the list goes on and everything will remain in order in response to the worlds reaction of getting a Playstation 3.
