I was just wonderring what you think about this idea. I know when i was young abstence was the only thing taught in school. But was i shocked today when i found out they were giving them out as young as middle school! i dont want anyone giving my daughter a condom in school. Sex is a private intimate encouter and i personally belive that the federal government has no right hand out condoms in school as might as well condone and tell them its natural. Its not natural until you are married, i myself abstaned until i was engaged and knew for sure i was going to be married. I want my daughter to be pure when she is married and for one dont want uncle sam putting condoms in her pockets. The handing out of condoms does make people more sexually active its like giving someone a loaded gun of course their gonna test it out now that it is loaded. Any htoughts or comments on the subkect are welcome i would especially like to hear from the high school age kids.
thanks, s8krdhrt
Quite Frankly, I'd rather that happen then her having some 18 year old boy with a bucket of AIDs and have it passed on her. I Can see why you disapprove, but like Big Red said, Teens WILL have sex, Btter safe then sorry.
yeah iknow where people are coming from when theysay its okay but me i am a very conservative person. i think sex should not be talked baout or refered to in a public place. Just think from your dads perspective would you want anyone handing you a condom, me personally if my son wanted one i would give it to him but i would never condone sex for my daughter
if my son wanted one i would give it to him but i would never condone sex for my daughter
Why?
If you think about it, you say you wouldn't want anyone handing your son/daughter a condom. Is this because that would imply they were having sex with someone? If you knew that they would have sex either way, what would you prefer? And keep in mind that no kid would take condoms from his/her parents - that's just awkward.

I don't agree with this.
I was given condoms in middle school, after sex-ed, and that didn't make me want to run out and **** like a mad-man. If you teach your children at home to TRY and save sex for marriage, or whatever you believe, then chances are they won't **** until the time is right(in this case for you, until s/he is married). Now, I see the only way this NOT happening is if you are not a good, respectable parent, whos kids don't give a **** about what you say.
I was taught Sex Ed in my latter parts of Middle School. We were never given condoms, and nobody really asked for one. I don't think they released them. I say in High School it's OK for them to hand out condoms, seeing as sex is so common at the high school level. Middle school is being a little ridiculous. Before I was taught Sex Ed i was given a paper to get signed by my parents saying they approved of it and whatnot.
I don't know if its the same thing at where your daughter is taking school.
Middle School is a bit ridiculous, but it is happening. My good friend got his girlfriend pregnant the summer right after 8th grade, and tons of kids did it in 8th and even 7th. It might be ridiculous, but it all depends on where you live. If you live in a good neighborhood I'd still agree on them giving it out in high school maybe junior year or something? But even 9th grade I don't care because it happens all the time and my first time I was drunk off my *** and had no condoms and honestly I think if my friend didn't lend me one then I might've still done it... Which is a pretty scary thought now... So whatever, it is a weird place for the gov't to decide to hand out condoms to minors or whatever you wanna call us, but like everyone else is saying, "Better safe then sorry".
Middle school is kind of early but it's happening like a few have said. In my opinion I think sex ed should be taught by a parent. That's just my personal opinion, I haven't had sex ed yet and I'm a sophmore in high school. But wouldn't it be kind of weird if some 40 year old teacher taught you about sex. Just a thought.. but I haven't had it so I wouldn't know.

But it's not just some random 40 yr old person doing it. It's a trained, been doing it for years person. So it's not like they're grabbing some random off the streets.

Really? That sounds a lot better then.. I didn't know much about it so I thought I'd be corrected by someone if I got something wrong.

I wasn't in the USA for Middle school but in England we were never just given them, but we could get them from school no questions asked.
If you go to the "Family Planning Center" in England and say you think you are going to be having sex soon, they will give them to you without asking questions. They would rather be losing money rather than having hundreds more teens pregnant in England, the problem is bad enough already.
In sex-ed, we were never even taught how to properly put a condom on until a sub came in and pretty much hand raped a banana.
I think giving them out in Middle school is a confusing idea. On one hand, they are trying to stop young kids who do have sex, from getting kids of their own, or STD's. On the other, they look like pedophiles almost encouraging them to use them.
I would think it would be better to give them to you in on the first day of high school: "Here is your schedule, your calendar, and your Trojan."
This is similar to the controversial needle exchange program. For those who don't know, there was a public service program some time ago that allowed people to bring in used needles and syringes and exchange them for brand new, sterile ones. The point was to prevent transmission of diseases through heroin needle-sharing. Many people thought this promoted heroin use, so the program was scrapped. If you think about it, however, heroin users would be injecting either way. Just with the program, there would be less disease.
