Gamestop/EB PS3trade in

I just got back from the mall this afternoon and while I was there I decided to drop into Gamestop and ask about the PS3 deal, here it is:

This is straight from the flyer on their register & verified with an employee:

Trade In the Following
1) PS2 console
2) 2 "Sony Controllers", must be Sony brand, no logitech's
3) 1 8mb memory card, any manufacturer

You will then receive $100 OFF the purchase of either the 20gb OR 60gb PS3.

This trade deal ends 2/17/07 as per the fine print on the in-store advert.

That's the only way I have seen the PS3 less than the retail cost mandated by Sony.

EDIT: I just saw the other thread on this, sorry for the misplacement.

As far as employee discounts go, I used to work for Outback Steakhouse and got 50 % off of Food, which I thought was a steal, and actually kept me there for a while, among other things . But the way I see it Car Salesman get discounts on cars, and employees at electronic store of any kind should get something off, even if it's an insulting 5%. Greed is rampant anymore and it disgusts me.
The sky is soon to fall! For once I disagree with you Nun!

I think credit cards are the devil and while EB Games I'm sure would benefit greatly from the interest of the cards (lenders make a TON of money), it would be a grave social disservice to put even more Americans in debt who really can't afford the system to begin with. If you can't afford it, don't buy it!
See this video for more details...

And also with the employee discount thing, the PS3 is like Apple Products. Retailers are given no choice but to sell the system for the price they get it for, so now what? We're expecting them to lose money for their employees and basically pay the employees to buy the system? I can't blame the owners for that. High profit items, on the other hand - like big screen TVs, are a horse of a different color.
