"Sponges" In Socom 3 (Please Read)

I want to get to the bottom of this.Have any of you been called a sponge in socom.You know when some one supposedly lights you up but you dont die.A few friends that i play with they call me a sponge cause they never can kill me.I supposedly take hits .Is there anybody else been called this?? Like A guy on my friends with we play with eachother alot and he has a freind that is like 1.9 something in his K/D Ratio and when i play against him he cannot kill me either.Like is this really true and if it is there a explanation for this.Or is it just another excuse that people use on socom??? Has anyone else been called this or had expierence with a player on socom who takes more hits then usual.I just wanted to get ya'll opinions.

Some people take more hits than normal, all the time...because they just have a bad connection which causes them to "sponge". Others, "sponge" once in awhile..due to their ISP having some problems or going through maintenance, or it's just at a peak time, or that person is downloading something which causes them to lag, ultimately causing them to take a little more hits..

Other times you hear a lot of "I shot him in the head, what a sponge!"..IMO, this isn't the person's fault, it's the game itself. Ever since they patched the bug where you could get more headshots than kills, it seems people take a headshot out of scope and still truck a long..sometimes people confuse it for a neck shot, or shoulder shot..but then there are times that you know 100% that he took one to the head..this issue also became more prominent when they patched the issue with gun ranges..

That probably has something to do with hit detection as well. Plenty of times I've seen blood come out of someone's head out of scope, but I guess the game is reading it as a shoulder or upper chest shot.

Yeah pretty much just lag, or kids with bad aim who are just spraying all over the place so it seems like they're shooting them forever.

Most of the time it's the person just stammering out excuses as to why they died and just rambling.

That and that no gun has any accuracy at all in this game.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that just because your crosshairs are on the person, doesn't mean you're hitting him. A lot of people confuse this with actually hitting the person..

I'm a sponge (about half the time, maybe a third), and it doesn't really bother anyone because I get my kills with sneak attacks (not silencer style, but loud gun pouncing on them style) so they hardly have a chance to shoot me.

when you blast someone in the chest or hip with a sniper rifle it should kill them. If they get a shot in the chest and still live they obviously sponged. A good example of the gun doesn't shoot exactly on the crosshairs is the M87ELR and the M8A2A1 if you place your crosshairs on they're chest it'll either hit the ground or go off in another other direction.

You're forgetting..... The bullet sometimes defies the laws of physics, and kills the teammate behind you.

But the hit detection in this game's....mediocre at best. I loved SOCOM 1 style hit detection. Beautiful accuracy, nice hit detection = good games all the time.
