300 looks farking awesome. It's my most anticipated movie of 07. Sure there's a 3rd Spider-Man, Transformers and a 4th Die Hard, but Romans kicking *** > all.

And a third Ocean's Eleven. And another Fantastic Four. And the Simpsons is going to waste 2 hours of peoples lives instead of the 30 minutes it currently enjoys. Oh, and can't forget about the Bruce Almighty spin-off with Steve Carell that's on the way.
Yeah, I pretty much give up on movies. Somebody let me know when Hollywood comes up with an original idea.

Teknic, it's near impossible for original ideas now. In fact, most movie titles that can be in existance have been created. Go to the local library (I can't see you even within the block of one, but roll with me), and look for a Names and Faces of Cinematics book that has the most recent addition. The book is over 600 pages in length of just the titles of movies. In-****ing-sane.
Hell, Snakes on a plane was a spinoff of Poison in the Sky, an independent student film back in the 80's.

I saw A History of Violence last night, and it's a total ripoff of the scene in Joe Dirt when Clem is put on TV and the mob comes to kill him but he kills them instead.

Now Joe Dirt thats an orginal movie. One of the very few movies that David Spade made without Chris Farley that was good.

I'm not all that proficient with my historic wars, but from what I've gathered, aren't they supposed to be Greeks, not Romans? :?
They have been e-promoting the hell out of it, but I hope it's as great as it looks. This is one of the director's first movies... so it could swing either way. It was recently shown at a film festival (though not 100% complete) and got great reviews... mostly about the amazing visuals. The new Die Hard looks pretty sweet too.

Yes Swiss they are Greeks. Where did you get the idea they were Romans? I really can't wait to see this movie.

A thousand pardons I beg of thee.
My ignorance of the subject matter is clear. I simply associated Spartans with Romans because Maximus always being referred to as "Spartan" in Gladiator.
Anyhoo, looks like an awesome movie, if even just for it's cinematography and digital effects. Go download the HD quicktime trailer, and go through it frame by frame; wow.
A visit to wikipedia is really informative, particularly the Social Customs portion. Sparta was a bunch of bad mofos.

This will be one of the rare times I see a movie on Opening day. I might even have to travel far to see it on a Digital theater screen. It must be done.
Off Topic: As far as the Simpsons movie...I can't go to the theater to see a Movie of a TV show that has been on TV at 30 Minute episodes for over ..What ??? 15 Years ????
What the Hell is so hard about slapping 4 comercial free epsiodes together and calling it a movie ??? I felt the same way about the X-Files Movies....
