I think ive seen a show about that on the history channel before, from what i can remember those 300 killed alot of the persians.

I can't wait to see this movie.
It's based on a Frank Miller ( Sin City ) story and directed by Zack Snyder ( Dawn of the Dead Re-MAke ) . It's not just the CGI it's the Colors and Characters and just everything.

Man, this movie looks incredible. I will hopefully get to see this at an advanced screening(this is how I usually don't pay for movies). I can't wait. I think that the 300 Spartans led by King Leonidas, killed tens of thousands of persians before they died. Definately a must-see.

I always thought that battle was a real historic battle, why did they make it all fake looking using all sorts of creatures and ugly make up and what not?

Because it's based off of a graphic novel. In the novel, it's a bit embellished and exaggerated in order to make a good story.
