PS3 price cut?

As you can see, I never asked him whether or not he was buying from JAP, or from USA. I just asked if he was going to get one based on the news that was in the thread; REGARDLESS of whether or not he gets one from JAP, or USA.

I don't really see why someone would change their mind on getting a PS3 when the price drop is only in effect in another country. What is there to not understand about that?

And tell me this, would you ever buy something from Japan? Even with the price drop, you still have to pay for shipping and taxes....you're better off just getting one here.

Once again, the price cut is only for the Japanese version of the Ps3. As of right now, there is no price cut for the American version of the Ps3.

Nope... I will be more than busy playing most of the same games on my 360. I will purchase a PS3 well after MGS4 is released; not to mention a probable price drop on the beast...

Every console comes with a controller, has been always will be. Selling just the console is dumb if you don't have anything to play with it. Maybe YOU should go to EB and ask YOURSELF instead of listening to rumors. Thats the problem with rumors, you never know which is true. I never listen to rumors, I wait until the very day the console gets put on the shelf. Everytime a new console comes out nothing is concrete.

If you read the article it also says it will be up to the merchandisers to decide the price.You never know what kind of deals you can get if you don't search for them.

During the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) last week Sony calmed public concerns by announcing the inclusion of a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) for the basic 20 GB PlayStation 3 (see our previous coverage). Japanese consumers were also treated to the news that the 20 GB PS3 would be 10,000 yen less than initially stated, coming in at 49,980 yen (US$429) when launched on November 11th.

Now we have word that while the HDMI addition to the 20 GB PS3 appears to be consistent worldwide, the price change does not appear to be. Kaz Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment America, has indicated that the price of the North American 20 GB PS3 will stay as is for now. "In the US, we're comfortable with the pricing that we announced at E3--$499 for the 20 gigabyte version and $599 for the 60-gigabyte version," he said.

The US$70 price difference overseas may seem a bit unfair to PS3 North American release consumers, but those consumers should bear one thing in mind. The price for the North American 60 GB PS3 is fixed at $599, while Japanese consumers must endure open pricing, meaning that retailers can charge whatever they want.

Glad I don't live in Japan.

This is good news for me, but I will just wait even longer for the price to drop even more. Someone like me just does not have that kind of money to be tossing around.
