Please Help...new Problem!!

Hey guys,

This website has been great and has helped me with a lot of Socom related things. Here's a new one.

I just moved and my PS2 worked great at my old house.

Now I have a new cable modem, NO router, and my computer gets online just fine.

Problem is when I try to logon with the playstation I get a "time out" error and it tells me to check my network connections. I checked all connctions and they are fine. I replaced my cable betwen the ps2 and the modem. I configured the modem and tested the connection. It said the test was successful. Still does not work, I get the same error!

What is my problem?

If your going to answer this question with a "try using the search feature on this website" then please dont bother. I have already tried that, search on this site sux, and I dont want to read through 800 posts.

I would try reseting your modem. By that I mean unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. DO NOT hit the stand by button. that doesnt reset it. i tried that once and my internet got all messed up, idk why either. if you unplug your modem and then make a new configuration and it still doesnt work, then your gonna need to get a new router my friend.

it's really a simple process

you know how if you get say, a digital camera and plug it into your comp and turn it on, the computer recognizes it being plugged in even though its not installed yet?

same thing for a modem when you plug it into say, a computer the modem recogonizes where it is plugged, so unplug it, then unplug the adapter that powers it then plug it into your ps2 and plug the adapter back in

Heres a few things for the people with no-idea.
FYI
- You dont need a router to play Socom.
- There is nothing wrong with resetting your router or modem.
- Normally, a reset fixes small problems such as connection errors.

Alright, I was able to get on after talking to sony and my isp for 1 1/2 hours.

My ISP needed to allow my playstation to log in. They needed the MAC address of my pS2.

Im on now, thanks everybody.
