Also, the original Socom was the best.
Let me be the first to say that Socom 2 was not a very good game, and paled in comparison. But what I've noticed is that most people who've played both like Socom 2 more - and I've also discovered that this comes mostly (probably around 80%) from people who played Socom 2 before the original. This leads me to believe that if you got addicted to the original, you thought Socom 2 was mediocre. The same applies vice versa.
My point? If someone picked up Socom 3 as their first Socom game and thought it was good, they'd probably try renting or buying Socom 2 and would be disappointed.
Most people, however, had Socom 2 before the original and before Socom 3, which is why, I postulate, Socom 2 always wins polls for being the best of the three. I contend it is the worst.
Now on to the topic. If Socom was the "beta" for Socom 2 and Socom 3 is the "beta" for Socom:CA, then why did they even release one and three? The theory doesn't really make sense, and I'm assuming CA will be mostly identical to Socom 3. Socom 2 is the only one that doesn't fit in with the pack, and it was a terrible mistake in the first place in my opinion. I'm not going to buy another Socom game because of it, just to point out where I stand.
