Do you consider a "gunfight" or "firefight"

A) Shooting somebody as one normally would, you know 2 guys shooting eachother
or
B) Hiding behind something and corner camping and killing the guy

So if I were to say "I won all my gunfights kid" and he replied with a "no rofls ottterrr i pwnd u!" he would be an idiot?

Also, 2nd part of my discussion:

Do you REALLY think camping behind something for the entire war, all round every round "owning" the opposing clan?

Yes. I think if the other team beats you, they beat you. There is nothing more to it. There is never a time in this game where one team has a huge advantage over the other so that they could not win. The only exception of this would be having more people on a team.

Camping is plainly a stratigic move. If your team is unable to break up the other teams camping then you have clearly lost and you need to try somthing new and find a weakness in the other team. 203s, grenades, smoke, flashbangs, machine guns. all of the weaponery that i just mentioned is all for your use and mainly can be used to break up camping.

It may be "strategic" but it involves no skill. Hell everyone camps, I camp, but staying in one spot the entire map makes you one of the people that ruin the game. There is three type of players in this game.

Rusher

Rush-Camper

Camper

Rusher = Goes out, constantly moving. Holding a position for more than 10 seconds is out of the question.

Rush-Camper = Goes out, rushes the first minute of the game, throws nades. Then holds a spot for awhile. Then in the last minute of the game, they rush out to get the "easy kills" Such as when your team is up 5 to 2. You rush out to get the remaining kills.

Camper = Stays in or near spawn the entire game. Only goes out when he is the last one left or there is 30 seconds left and they are down. Usually get killed as soon as he moves.

I am by no means a rusher, but neither am I a camper. I do both, but I don't babysit the spawn.

My philosophy on the game is that the spawn won't ever move, it will always be there. So you can come back and see it later after you win the round.

I would say tha A is classified as a gunfight.

Anything besides that is not IMO.

Leaning to get a kill isn't IMO.

It has to be a 1 on 1 face to face fight.

No back kill is a gunfight no matter what you say.

A gunfight is two people (or more I suppose) shooting at each other face to face. I don't consider corner camping a gunfight. I don't consider it strategic. I consider it a cop out for people that can't aim (75% of the people that play Socom 3). People that are terrible at the game, yet need to do good to make themselves feel better. They can't just run out and play, they have to lay down the second they spawn, or find themselves a corner as fast as possible.

If you corner camp, or camp in general, every single game you play, you're what is the downfall of this game. You ruin it for everyone.

If you rush, and get into gunfights, and love a good old fashion man to man duel, then you're one of the few people that don't ruin this game in every way possible.

Then of course, there's the people like me, that will usually take out their corner camper with them, or just plain take them out (read above comment about people not being able to aim).

I've played plenty of people that camp that have great aim. I think a gunfight or firefight can be when a guy pops out from around a corner if you get a chance to shoot. If he either leans from one of the many places where it's almost impossible to see them and shoots you, or shoots you in the back its not. my idea of a gunfight is two people shooting at each other no matter how many bullets either gets off.

It is NOT a gunfight if someone pops out from behind a wall, I don't know why some of you seem to think that.

I consider A) as a gunfight. Not 50 meters away shooting.

Corner shooting ruins everything, it's boring. I like people who rush and get into gunfights.

As the "no rofls ottterrr i pwnd u!", yes he's an idiot because all he can do is talking trash so it doesn't matter. I don't know if these kind of people ever play SOCOM II.

I don't think camping the whole game is "owning" because it requires no skill. All you do is waiting and it is extremely boring. I can't beleive people do this in this game.

I hate corner glitchers, I rarely do it, unless I know I'm going to get owned

That's what I thought at first.

Scenerio (sp..?):

Fault seals (us), no "boom".
The terrs just go in every tunnel, go behind a corner, and lean glitch. If you ran in the hall you would see NOTHING but get shot because they're lean glitching.

We tried rushing with MKs. They would have BACK-UP lean glitchers if we did kill any.

We tried sniping, we did, but again, so many of them.

203s were off, so were nades and mines.

We went around and behind them, well, darken did usually, and he'd get behind, then there'd be this kid behind all the lean glitchers lean glitching, but facing behind them.

Then of course, in the lobby they said we got owned. When I replied with "if I rushed anytime and/or got in a gunfight I rolled you"

Of course, half the population on this game having an IQ < 50, they replied with a simple "**** you we owned you scrub".

And another thing, almost everybody on this game who calls somebody a scrub uses it in the wrong context.

Scrub: Player who needs to play like a b1tch to get kills (i.e. camper, lean glitcher, F90 etc)

So in KF (tiebreaker) one guy had an F90 and low and behold, they were camping spawn.

I rush in their spawn (along with 3-4 others), take 1 out w/ scope, take another 1 w/ scope, then it's a 2v1, both come out from their corners at me, I whip around and shoot the other one, and whip around again but too slow, get killed by the guy's F90.

And I'm a scrub because he owned me.

It's just sad and pathetic what this game has come to. The beginning of s2 wasn't like this, hell even s2 wasn't like this, it was all "gg mvp" "gj on the sniping otter" "nice m11 kill lol" etc etc

Now it's "WOW OWNED YOU SCRUBS YOUR CLAN IS HORRIBLE" after a 50 minute game of tidal fury demo where they win 1-0.

....Even at the beginning of s3 this was going on, not as bad but people bragged sooo much. Maybe because it's such an easy game that everybody and their mother brags and boasts after a game.

Idk...sigh...
