Ill bet most of the people on this site still live at home, and think because they got a car payment and a cell phone bill means they are independent. It sure as hell doesnt and I am willing to bet 80 percent of this site still lives home with mommy and daddy and gets everything off of them and doesnt have to worry about payments on a house, car, food, utilities, cell phone and numerous other bills.
This is just about the DUMBEST idea ever presented on this site about socom, bottom line. The idea of being forced to BUY weapons is about as idiotic a statement as anyone can present.
period.

I don't live with my parents. My parents don't pay my bills. Blah, whatever.
This is not the dumbest idea ever presented. The notion of "there should be tree stands" or "you should be able to dig tunnels" comes to mind for that title.
Purchasable content is the future my friend, it's best that you and everyone else gets with the times. In our 'on demand' world, software publishers will very logically offer purchasable upgrades and addons for successful titles, prolonging the large investment needed to produce an entirely new title.
As I said, XBox Live does this quite well with several titles. Online computer games do this quite well with several titles. And you can bet that we'll see a lot of this on the PS3, and I for one welcome that.
How many bad games have you bought or played in the past year? Personally, I can think of 3 titles I blew money on because of the massive hype, but then the games stunk. Why would I not what to buy stuff to add on to a great game, that I play several times a week? In the end, it may turn out being the cost of a new game, but at least I know I'm investing my money into something I already enjoy.
I apologize in advance if this business model has no place in your idea of a utopian society.
