3 Trillion Barrels of Oil Untouched in the Rocky Mountains!

I recently saw an ad on the site that interested me and it said that there is 2 trillion barrels of oil underneath the Rockies, of that 2 trillion barrels 1.5 trillion are usuable for car and everything else.

Check it out, http://www.stansberryonline.com/OIL/...scode=XOILG804

Here's the jist of it.
Quote:
Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world — more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. Three companies have been chosen to lead the way. Test drilling has already begun...
Here are some calculations of how much Oil there is in this one place compared to the rest of the world.

Quote:
Here are the official estimates:
  • 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
  • 18-times as much oil as Iraq
  • 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
  • 22-times as much oil as Iran
  • 500-times as much oil as Yemen
...And it’s all right here in the Western United States.
And here's a quote from an interview with Senator Sam Bodman.

Quote:
Robert, from Hillsboro, Oregon writes:
Is it true that an untapped oil reserve has been discovered that exceeds 2 trillion barrels in the Green River Formation under the Rocky Mountains?
Samuel Bodman
You're right. And as yesterday's closure of the BP pipeline in Alaska reminds us, the oil market is very tight right now; so we must pursue every option for increasing our domestic supply of petroleum.
The reserve under the Rocky Mountains is what is known as oil shale, and there is a huge quantity of it there. Unfortunately, oil shale can't just be pulled out of the ground by means of regular drilling, like liquid petroleum. It must be heated to a very high temperature before it can be pumped. But thanks to various provisions of the Energy Policy Act, we are able to put a good deal of effort toward developing the technology to make these "unconventional fossil fuels" more appealing, especially in terms of price and turnaround time. Altogether, domestic oil shale represents a resource, which, if economical, could play a significant role in meeting the nation's needs for more liquid fuels over the next several decades.

Also off the coast of North Carolina about 40, 50 miles out there are huge amounts of gas and methane.

Yet we don't even touch neither of them or even hear about them until gas reaches $2?

You have got to be kidding me! Since we have such an oil dependent economy why don't we just start drilling there! It's the goverments land they can do what ever they want with it.

It will lower the taxes immensely and probaly lower the amount of troops near Oil refineries and wells in the Middle East.

Anyways I feel if the opprotunity is there then take it, and then you have more time to work on other fuels such as hydrogen and ethanol.

While we're on the subject of oil, did anybody catch the interview with Matt Lauer (is that right?) and the BP President? I didn't see it by my mom told me about it. Basically Matt asked him who was going to pick up the end of the pipeline being shut down and basically the first answer was complete babbling. Then Matt said "I don't think I got an answer out of that." so the BP guy said "Well, we're not going to worry about that right now." Now if any of you know what words like that means, it means that we're going to have the honor of picking up the tab. They're going to raise prices just because they didn't spend their money on keeping it fixed, instead they went and bought some sleazy crack wh0re and a couple cases of beer.

Oh, and another interesting fact was that every 1/400 of a dollar they made (.25 of a penny for the fractionally challenged), was spent on making sure the pipeline didn't get messed up.

I think this is just another get rich quick scheme by BP. If any of you remember (I doubt it), there was something that happened to the pipeline a few years ago that was bad, but it didn't get shutdown. Some dumb@ss went out and shot the pipeline with a rifle (or pistol, I don't remember) and it started spilling all over. Now they could've closed it, but they didn't. The damage was probably just as bad as what's happening now, but that's just how BP rolls I guess.

Anyway, that's what I've learned and how I feel about this whole situation. I hope you had fun reading this (I doubt you did).

You guys are all forgetting one thing: We DO NOT have the largest oil reserves. Even with the oil under the rockies. Sadly, Venezuela has trillions more barrels of oil than we do. If I remember correctly, one of their undeveloped oil fields has like 5 trillion barrels of oil in it. Kind of scary that the country with the largest oil reserves is run by a dictator.

I'll just be glad when someone invents something to replace oil that is cheaper, just as effective if not more, and doesn't cause so much pollution.

Something about that article seems very spammish.. If it was all true, it would be on CNN every second. Im yet to see any media reports about this rocky mountain stuff. I mean really...how stupid could our country be to let the prices go over $3 a gallon, when such simple fix could of been made. Lemme guess...Its all politics.

Put it this way... If the current gas price was $1 a gallon, our senate would NEVER approve Arctic National Wildlife oil drilling in Alaska.. But now since its $3, they are seriously considering it.

Humans are the most destructive species on earth.

It's an advertisement, and at the very bottom of the page they are attempting to sell a magazine called the "Oil Report". I'm sure something from this article has to be true... but from anything else I've seen, it's only anyones estimate to say how much oil is in the Rocky Mountains, not to mention how to get it out of there...

What really gets me angry is how people say that if we drill in ANWR (the Alaska oil site), we'll mess up the animals habitat there. I've seen pictures of where they want to drill there, and it's a small piece of the whole area, so it wouldn't effect them that much. And besides, caribou and foxes don't have to pay $2.70 for gas, so just nudge them aside and take the oil. The tree huggers and the oil companys should merge or something so that we can drill, but the hippies will make sure that they don't destroy everything.

And yes, humans are very destructive. Why can't we just find a niche for our society, like the natives did. But instead we go and kill everything and anything we see because we just felt like it that day.

If the article is true, then since the oil is in shale form and not crude, I suspect they haven't started work because it's not economically feasible without further developments into extracting it.

wait you actually belived it?

Dude. the article has more discrepancies than loose change. Comon.

Read the top. It says the us has 2 trillion barells of oil. Read further. It now says we have 1.6 trillion.

Google the " 2005 energy bill" and you will find nothing about drilling in the rockies.
