Playing UK socom in Japan

Hi,

SOCOM rocks. SOCOM is just about the best game I have ever played.
This makes me sad
Y'see I moved from the UK to Japan last year & SOCOM does not exist in Japan. When SOCOM III came out I was very sad, knowing that I could never play. Sometimes I have dreams that I manage to play SOCOM - do you see how much I like this game?

OK, so I'm thinking I could buy a UK playstation2 & UK copy of SOCOMIII & have it shipped to Japan - but there are a few technical questions...

1) Will a UK PAL PS2 work on a JP NTSC TV?
2) From Japan will I be able to connect to the EURO SOCOMIII servers?

Hmm, I wouldnt know. I do know that our site admin, DaKilla is able to play with us from america because he got his ps2 and game from America...he lives in Germany. I don't know, I guess see what people know.

Maybe I should get a US PS2? You use NTSC there too don't you?

I don't know that the PS2 makes much of a difference... but I have no clue. I'd start with the disc, because it's cheaper.

japan has a lot of tech stuff im sure you can buy an american ps2 chip at some electronic store.....i had my other PS2 progammed to play japanese games when i got bootleg games from there...so im sure you can progam your pS2 to the american version

Just get the America PS2 and dont bother with chips because they might not allow you to get pass the DNAS server. Sniping, yup, PS2 makes big difference, its all programmed differently.

Yeah, the PS2 DOES make a difference - each PS2 is locked to the region you bought it in, so you can only play US bought games on a US bought PS2, Euro games on a Euro PS2, etc etc
Unless you get your PS2 'chipped' - I could do this possibly, but have you ever tried explaining this in Japanese?
Basically I don't care how much it costs, I just wanna play socom.

Any Ideas where (online) I can get a US PS2 & have shipped to Japan?
All the stores I've looked at will only ship inside USA.

I could get my brother to send one from UK - but I don't have the luxury of knowing anyone in the US.

UK PS2's are PAL. Anyone have experience of using a PAL sytstem on an NTSC TV? Will it work, what problems are there?

Well, like I said, I had no clue. I just play on my ps2 and that's about it...

Im from the UK and live in the US now, I am sure that one of my friends brought his UK PS2 and played it over here. I dont know for sure so dont blame me if it doesnt work, I would ask him but he moved house split second so I dont even know where he lives now.

Try eBay, they will most likely have some, just watch for people nly selling the PS2 case or something though. Also, Im not sure if Amazon ship outside of the country where the product is from, but try Amazon.

If it's NTSC in japan...get an NTSC ps2 and you can play with more people that way =\
