quite frankly this is not good enough reason for me to stop constructively complaining about the new way the guns are programmed. Of course im going to get killed by a person using the m16 because im in the open, but the question remains - at how far of a distance can I be killed by the m16?

One of the many reason why Socom 3 is better then Socom 2 is because of the vast amount of balanced guns the consumer is able to use. It was quite fun to strategize which guns are better on different maps and how i were to strategize my game plan around those guns. However, now its like Socom 2 where people are compelled to use the only decent guns available. I know that all the other guns are still balanced and usefull, but there is no INCENTIVE to use those guns seeing how the m16, is like a silenced sniper rifle automatic killing machine.

This is almsot the same exact debate before Socom 3 came out and Zipper anounced that sniper rifles would not be a one shot kill. People were mad as hell because it gave people no reason to use a 2 shot kill 50 cal sniper rifle.

I want socom 3 to keep its diversity like it has before this new infinite range deal.

Fine, the m16 is not silenced at close distances. I thought that would be assumed by me and you. Of course assuming makes an *** out of me and you.

However, when at far distances with the new infinite range feature the m16 will be silenced because if someone is extremly far shooting, the person will not be able to hear where the shots were coming from. You see, because of the infinite range people dont have to worry about if they are too far away, they will just shoot away and not have to worry about loud noise either.

Okay.

This thread hs gone on long enough...

I see where you are coming from baby... but that doesnt mean youre right.

I dont know where youve been all of Socom's existence, but every gun has ALWAYS had infinate range, except for Socom3. Why? because it worked. People didnt use the 9mm sub to snipe (except for me...) because of the recoil and inability to use a scope. No one ever ONCE complained about range issues then, at least Ive never heard any complaining about it.

Now with Socom 3, with the ability to customize weapons and put a scope on just about anything, it messed up the balance that S1 and S2 had, so they figured they would have to implement range restrictions on the weapons. Ok.... good idea in theory, but having an asault rifle who's normal effective range is well over 400 meters shoot less than 100 just is not right. That is the way the ranges USED to be. Assault rifles except for the M16A2 and the IW80A2 (which shot up to 120m) shot 99m effectively, and wouldnt put a scratch on you after that. Thats rediculous.

So, of course, logical people like me and many other people on these boards argued that the ranges had to be fixed; turned back to the days of infinite S1 and S2 range, or at least increased so that if you could see someone, you could kill them. They have. And they work beautifully.

There are incentives to use the SR-25 and SASR....its really quite simple..... They kill in 2 shots to the chest or one shot to the head. I still use them all the time for maps like Devil's Road or Killing Fields because they give me that stopping power to stop the rushers in Devil's Road or for the hitting people between the many walls in Killing Fields.

I still believe the guns are balanced just because of the weapon customization. For example: sure, you can shoot across the map with a silenced 552 and medium scope, but what about in close - medium distance? The spray is so bad that you might as well be throwing rocks.

The only thing I think could be changed for the better is the scope choices on weapons. Why cant the SASR have a medium scope? M16 shouldnt have the high scope. Most assault rifles should only have the 4X and low scopes... ect..

Everyone wanted weapon customization, and these are the problems that come with it.

I like the fact it changed, because on maps like Harvester and Devil's Road, you can snipe with AK's and M16's with single shot like a Sniper Rifle, maybe that never changed but it seems diffrent then it was before.

What a Flame Fest! I personally like the new range boost because I was just playing in a machine gun only on Devil's Road and it was actually quite fun. You could snipe real far with the MK/Rtk.

Fire back! Quit bein a "kittie" already, if they can hit you, you can hit them. Learn to aim, then dance on their corpse.

yeah, its soooo much easier using the AK and M16 then using those crappy sniper rifles that have a a long pause in between shots and their loud as hell gun fire.

Thankyou for proving my point.

I bet most of the time you were killed from so far away that those automatic guns did not even make a SOUND! Sure as hell beats using those loud 1 shot sniper rifles dont it. I mean sure, the mk and rtk are not one shot kills, but what does it matter, if you can spray that far away...you are bound to hit the enemy. Again, thanks for proving my Point.
