Long Post.. Must read for all
I would just like to point out a few of the "Improvements" from socom 2 to socom 3.
1. Curser bounce time as been cut in 1/2. This means that the timing between when you prone down and scope in, to the time that you can hold your shot steady has decreased. It decreased so much now, that even the more impatiant players think that they're snipers.
2. Increase in overall range of weapons. This means that except for about 10m, the IW-80 and M16 can shoot as far as Sniper Rifles on level ground. This means that anyone with a 30 shot automatic gun, can shoot someone who's trying to snipe them a lot further away.
3. Larger Maps for more people... quite honistly.. I think this is great!
I would just like to point out a few of the "Improvements" from the release of socom 3 to socom 3 as it is now out to the General public.
1. All the weapons got a boost of range. Yes this means that now the M16A2 and IW-80 can now shoot at anything inside their scope on level ground. For snipers like me, that really pisses me off. If I have to wait for my gun to re-load between shots, I want the people who are barely inside the range of my scope to have to do the same thing.
2. Quick Sniping has become easier. Now with less curser bounce, it is easier to quick snipe someone! Once again, something that as a sniper pisses me off. Sniping is about making sure your shot counts, and I don't know of any real life sniper who can run accross the level (heart rate up and all) jump in the air, land, and within 1/2 a second let off an accurate shot.
I am fed up with this whole "lets make the job easier for snipers, and balance it out by letting automatic rifles shoot almost as far" BS. I am issuing a stand right here right now. I will no longer support the Sony 1'st party franchise anymore, including any more outcomming Socom games until this issue is addressed and I personally have been contacted by someone on this issue. I WILL NOT support the "most accurate shooting searies on the PS2" when it is getting further and further away from it. I suggest fog of war be removed for snipers, and the range on automatic rifles reduced to a level of decency. If you are with me on this issue, make a stand with me and reply with your name on here.

My dad has confirmed kills with an M14 at close to a mile.

Quicksniping isn't easier then s2 it's about the same. Also if you hit the ground and sit there for one or two seconds it isn't considered a quicksnipe. A quicksnipe is in mid-air. Also i havn't noticed anything about the range of automatic rifle increasing. Also posting about something you want changed here won't help this site isn't incorporated with zipper nor sony in anyway this forums is used by socom 3 players and fans.

I compleatly agree, but there have been confirmed kills with Sniper rifles at ranges over 3 miles.

The farthest range of any area in all of socom 3 is about 200 meters... how is it unrealist that all rifles can shoot that far?

First off, What the Range finder says is 200m, and what looks like 200m isn't the same. The small map in harvister is ~250m accross. Yet I can't see that far through my sniper rifle? and tell my guy running that it's only 250m when it takes him just over a minute to run accross it.

I agree distances are shaky, but the simple fact is snipers will never really play the role of snipers because, based on real life, these maps are small. Snipers in this game are basically just powerful assault rifles that you sacrafice short range abilities for.

Quick sniping hasnt gotten a lot easier. And again,a quick snipe means your off the ground. The map harvester is easy to snipe on because its agiant valley. If your a terrorist,on harvester small,and u go up on the left hand hill,its gonna be pretty hard for a seal to find you if your against that wall.
If your a seal,good luck trying to find some1 against your wall,all you see is air...

^^^^ not true. A sniper ihas the same chance as someone with an iw at killing someone. it just depends on how good you are. If someone runs at me with an automatic,and ive got a m87 or l96,there dead. i zoom in right there with them spraying bullets and give em 1 quick shot in the head.Like the saying goes,"They can run,but they'll only die tired..."

Ok, first of all my point was snipers are more powerful. < True statement. You said someone has an equal chance with an IW + Highscope as with an M82 + Highscope. That's like saying the torso is harder to hit than the head. You might be able to get a headshot, but it will never be easier than a body shot...
