A turn for the worst

As most of you probably know, there is major conflict in the Middle-East right now (not the Iraq war. If you don't know, read up on cnn.com (it's first-page news). What are your reactions to this escalation?

Personally, I think Israel over-reacted. A full-scale war is almost inevitable now and it will most likely drag more nations into it. As I see it, we may possibly be witnessing the start of WWIII. This kind of conflict should never be allowed. I understand that the kidnapping of 3 soldiers is a major deal, but not major enough to instantly fire up the artillery and bombers.

Yeah its pretty bad.
My friend who was in the marines(he was kicked out in bootcamp but still) said a lot of his DIs and officers were talking about WW3 and how it would probably be involved with China, N. Korea, Israel, and the various islamic nations who hate us. I'm almost worried but we'd own them.

I see it has an act of revenge from Isreal, all the issue and treaties and loss of those lands in the past made them angry but they weren't exactly 'suffiecient' reasons to attack them. While taking those soilders captive was, I consider an act of agression, their government decieded to blow the whole thing out of proportion. They took like 2 soilders and then Isreal went and bombed the crap out of places.

Its a serious issue..without a doubt.. And I also agree that Israel over-reacted. I cant believe how much they over-reacted.. We should also thank them for driving the gas price sky high over the last 2 days.. $75 a barrel..to now $78 a barrel.. We are sure to see it at the pump soon.

This could quickly escalate to very serious levels if something isnt done soon.. All we need now is Iran to shoot a missle over there, and it may just be WWIII.

I think that the UN needs to really put the hammer down. All of the UN countries need to unite under the UN banner and say 'no!' to war. Of course this means that if there was a war, everyone would have to back themselves up by getting involved, but one would expect that the entire world is more powerful than any couple of countries. A UN intervention would go a long way in regards to detering conflicts and it would increase the UN's authority in similar situations- especially if the UN ends up having to bust some heads.

The problem is that these countries have been fighting for decades on top of decades. The war didnt start just because of the soldiers, it has been building forever....since the time of Christ....I think.

With Russia and China having oil intrests with Iran, and Iran vowing to strike if Syria is hit, we are probably on the brink of WWIII. Wouldnt it be advantagous for us to have a whole bunch of troops already near the front lines? Hey maybe we will also have some help from the Iraqi troops.

I Believe that the kidnapping of the Israeli soldiers by Hezzbollah was orchestrated by Iran. The G8 Summit is today and Iran wanted a distraction too take eyes off of their Nuke program. Hezzbollah has captured Israeli soldiers before and traded them out for hundreds of Isalmic Extremeists prisoners. Iran knew if they sent goons down from another country that Israel would react swiftly. But, I do believe that Iran did'nt expect Israel to react this harshly. All of this going on is exactly what Iran wants. Hezzbollah is 100 % fully supported by Iran, which also gives this organization over 100 Million a year.
As far as the gas , The media was reporting it going up to $4.00 a gallon before these recent events began. And the Isaraeli have begun bombing Fuel Depots in Lebanon. Iran will raise the price per barrell of crude oil even higher.
The sad thing is Lebanon is an excellent platform for all this. Recently, Syria had a hand in assasinating Lebanons previous leader and briefly occupied the country, until they were warned to get out. Lebanon simply cannot defend its self. They have a terrorist organization operating near their borders that is funded and supplied by Iran and Syria. The leader of Syria knows that the U.S would smack him across the mouth and send him to his room. This Basically makes Syria , Iran's little bastard brother.
