Yes they are. I'm on my third mic right now. The first two stopped working on their own. I have never thrown my mic, stepped on it, or down anything that would cause the mics to stop working. They just started buzzing one day, and all the wires were in perfect condition. So they really do just break with age.

Ive owned a few consoles and out of all of you I probably look after my things best and the Socom 1 headset is the first thing thats broke in my ownership, this is quite clearly an indication of how shoody something is.....if i can break it without actually breaking it purposly....then its a bag of wank

Yeah, I went through like 3 or for mics since socom1 came out, but I also think it has to do with how you take care of your stuff, some of mine were stepped on or tripped on the wire. My brother still uses the mic that came with socom 1 and it works great.

And if you haven't played, how do you know it isn't your router/lag/firewalls, as Bman previously suggested? And Unknown... He says the blue light still comes on. If that's on, to me the headset still works. If it quit randomly, the light wouldn't come on, would it?

yes it would, if the problem is in the headset, and not the volume control box, then the light will still come on.

Yeah yoshi is right and also why is there even a mute button?? alll it does is mute what YOUR saying if it muted what others are saying then I would use the mute more often.. Because those 8 year olds can get pretty annoying and since they decided to elminate the mute thing on s3 we gotta listen to whiny kids
