I think when S3 came out, I would have agreed with you. But I am just as hooked as I ever was on S2. It's far from perfect. FAR. But still fun. There are some maps I liked better from S2 (FishHook, Foxhunt, Bitter Jungle) and some i like better on S3 (Harvester, Tidal Fury, Devils Road).
I just hope when they release #4, whenever that is, they incorporate aspects that has made it so successful up to this point, and react a little more quickly to resolve errors and glitches.

If i was online right now I wouldnt byotch about the campers or snipers in the tall grass with sr's . I would make them pay for it with my thermal scope.
The game is more realistic and challenging>These factors don't make it boring bcuz it actually takes skill and thought to kill someone. Unlike in socom 2. Where you almost know where the enemy is going in each scenario.
Of course if run out into the open. You're gonna get popped. So think before you act and you'll find this game 3X better than s2 ever was.

I read the first three pages and jumped to reply, so if I repeat, please forgive me...
S3 is a great game but NOT as addicting as S2. I took a break from S3 for a week though, and came back to it and thoroughly enjoyed myself for a couple hours. It's now just a fun thing to do and not the obsessive "GOTTA GET HOME & PLAY" kind of thing it used to be.
If I had to pick one reason why, it'd be the lack of team work that occurs. There's always a scramble for the vehicles, the sniper spots, the quick kill rush... it's usually a free-for-all with little player contact. I miss the time when a strategy could be proposed, agreed upon and acted out. And when succesful, you won. Then the opponents countered and you switched strategy. S3 is too zoom zoom, see ya on the otherside of the map... maybe.

Ya i jumped to reply and didn't read it all so sorry if i repeated but i have some reasons why i personal think it is so much worse.
- i miss the snow maps man and all the different kind of maps jsut not jungle and desert **** on s3
- I liked hjoining ranked rooms of other clans and trying to own them and have it matter but it doesnt matter because all clan rooms have to be unranked with sucks man like for example i used to play in west 2 all s2 and i knew everyone and it was awsome goin into west 2 and playin with everyone it was like a giant family but that has fallen apart and i miss it so bad
- For some reason i hate this crosshair s2 crosshair was so much better
There is alot of other little stuff that i dont feel like typing

I don't think so
I don't think there was ever any teamwork in Socom 1, 2 or 3 and i have had and played all of them. Socom 3 is a good game, but it is missing something. I stopped playing it for about 2 months after the release which i never would have done with the other two games. I always play the small maps so it is like the old games, but it does not seem like as much fun as it used to be

Wait no can't be those cause in Socom 3 you can have small maps and a limit so its 8v8.
It must be the ACTUAL MAPS! The maps in Socom 2(X-Roads, Night Stalker, SUJO, Guidance, Blizzard, Fishhook, ect.) were just addicting and great. They really were a major part that made you so addicted, you'd feel hungry for hours but couldn't leave your couch for one minute to get that bite to eat. Another Perk that Socom 2 had was better gameplay...Now I really don't know what made the gameplay better but some element of this gameplay is missing from Socom 3. I mean we dealt with horrible hit detection and other major problems on Socom 2 because even with these problems the GAME WAS ADDICTING AND FUN! With Socom 3...ehhhhhh Not SO MUCH. Im hear to basically say.....Zipper *censored* up with Socom 3. I've had it since launch and ever since that "New Game Smell" wore off of it.....I've come to realize its *censored*.
With Socom 2, I HAD to play the game nightly like I was a OCD patient and it was a ritual of mine.
With Socom 3, I felt like "This is Socom, why am I not having the usual urge to play?" So I would force myself to play a few games on it.
Maybe having a WORKING Rank System like Socom 2 also "helped" with its level of addictiveness.
Anyway to wrap this post up, I don't have either right now cause I sold my Socom 2 after I got 3, and I sold my 3 once it started to suck. I really need something to fill this "void" in my life. Im hoping that Ghost Recon: Advanced War Fighter for my Xbox 360 will fill the void. But once again I think I need to be serious with myself....SOCOM > ANY OTHER SHOOTER MADE.
I have my fingers crossed that Socom 4(if made), will go back to what made Socom 2 the best Shooter I ever played. Im PRAYING IT WILL!
Until then, Im trying to get my hands on a copy of Socom 2, and a network adapter for my PS2.
Thanks for reading and goodnight.
EDIT: One thing I forgot to write about was........the waiting in Socom 3 is definitely one thing that does ruin it. Let's say you have 2 bad rounds....you're dead within a few mins, Well guess what you're now gonna wait 5 mins and then another 5 mins just waiting to play again. The fact that each round almost always goes the full time is a joke and was never a factor in socom 2(Maybe in ShadowFalls with some campers).

Agreed. The ranking ststem is ****INGSHITASS****INGSHIT!

i love playing socom 3 online but its only really really fun when you play with someone you know like a friend that lives near you because it just makes the game so much more fun its fun when you play with strangers but its not like addictivly fun but the most fun i have is when i go over my friends house we set up two tvs and just play online for hours drinking dr spice (dr pepper ghetto brand) but the ranking system is ****ed up and the cheating is getting rediculous it should just stop

You know after reading all of your posts I can agree with all of you so I'm gonna make this short and sweet.
Where the FV($ you guys/girls get those stats banners from? lol Are they linked to your real stats for true updates? That is cool as well you know what I was going to say. Anyway I have mic problems it works in socom 2 and not S3 and I have done every possible thing to fix it I went and bought two different brands of mics one Logitech other Sony just in case as someone suggested it (No I'm not a sucker I needed new mics anyways I have three ps2's and the mics were getting dirty and old and I really don’t want my friends germs all over my mic for years so it was a good idea to get rid of the germs! lol)
You all have fun and no matter what don’t give up on S3 it will get better it takes some getting use to but overall its alot better product so be true to your urge!
Whoever that was looking for a copy of Socom 2 have you been to Wal Fart lately? They have it on shelf for $19.99. Send me $20.00 (CD/Overnight Freight cause I know your dying to play) and I send you one of my 3 copies I never use anymore.
See you online!

SOCOM 3 is way better than SOCOM 2...in my opinion. I love the CONVOY maps and the vehicles and boats...the only thing is the ranking system and the updating of stats...I'm missing like 12 MVP's...but oh well...I'm addicted to S3 as I was to S2....BTW if you see the [PMS] clan watch out for them...an all female clan, and they're pretty damn good.
