Escort vs. Extract

Could someone please describe the objectives of each team in these two different game types? I don't know the difference, nor the role/objectives of each team. Thank you.

I believe it is as follows:

Extraction - Terrorists have to either extract the hostages or eliminate all seals, Seals have to eliminate all Terrorists, if there is no extraction or one team is not eliminated it is a draw

Escort - Seals have to escort the VIPS to a certain point or eliminate all terrorists, terrorists have to eliminate all VIPs or all Seals

Differences, in Extraction the Seals control the hostages, the terrorists must get to them and extract them, in Escort the seals have control and have to get them to one of two extraction points, or keep them alive

This was really confusing the first week of Socom 3, I played in a couple of extraction games (used to Socom 2), we (the seals) went and grabbed the hostages, made a great run to the extraction, extracted them and then lost and couldn't figure out why.

so basically the same but with teams reversed? same except seals can't kill the hostages in extraction? can escort end in a draw? or do the seals HAVE to successfully escort the VIPs and lose if they dont'?

Extraction is the complete opposite to past Socom games. Where it used to be
the Terrorists had to protect the hostages, it is now the seals who must
protect them and prevent a terrorist extraction. Terrorists win if they
kill the seal team or extract the hostages. Seals need to kill the terrorists
or hope that they terrorists shoot two hostages - thise would cause the seals
to win the round. If neither team has shot hostages or killed each other when
the time expires then the round is a draw.

Escort

Seals must extract the VIPS or kill all the terrorists on this map. Terrorists
have to kill all of the VIPs or all of the Seals to win. If the seals fail

I wish people were more willing to play these game types. It is hard to find a 16V16 for anything other than Suppression, Control, Demolition or Convoy.

Thats because the basis for these game types is flawed. With extraction, most rounds end in a draw because of the larger maps and vehicles. The terrorists can put the hostages into a vehicle and drive them as far from the extraction point as possible. This way, there is no possible way for a seal to get the hostages across the map to the extraction before time runs out (unless your doing 10 min rounds-but who does that?) And escort is just a really good way to loose if youre a seal. It was like that on Socom 2 as well.

Ummmm for Escort SEALs have to kill the VIPs this time around. Not sure about Extract havent played it yet

Wait...why would Seals be killing VIPs? That doesn't make sense. I have yet to play the Escort in S3 so I wouldn't know how its setup for sure, but shouldn't the terrorists be killing the 'Very Important Person's and the seals be protecting and extracting them?

unless the VIP was like a terrorist leader or something...
