Right now I am pretty much staying even with my kills to death ratios. When I first started I would have 2 or 3 kills to every 7 or 8 deaths. It really is experiance. I can sit down and promise myself that I am only going to play 2 games before I goto bed and I end crashing hours and hours later. If you let yourself get into the game and really start to enjoy it you will start to "click" with the game a lot easier. Be patient and practice.

Still hoping that it will one day "Click". 50-50 is about my average these days, every once in awhile I can get a 10-7, but mostly it is 8-8.

Temporary Clicks
I started playing SOCOM 2 in '04, and I was pretty average for a long time. I would play in Ensign only rooms and come out even and occasionally on top, All Ranks rooms the best I could hope for was about 6-9. So I stuck to Ensigns Only against the better judgment of my clanmate ( big rank killer that is, only killing people of your same rank.)
So one night I decide I want some rank, I'm going to try to kill some Captains and Cookies in an all ranks Sujo game (my specialty; SEALS side.)
BOOM! 4-0, first round. I thought it was luck, there was no way I could keep that up, especially in a room like that. But I did, went something like 14-6, got the MVP, but the best part was my teammates on the mic giving me props and calling me an animal.
After that game I reverted to mediocrity, but occasionally there would be flashes of brilliance, on various maps, when it always seemed my AR was on target, when I knew exactly when to pull the trigger with a bouncy sniper scope. These were few and far between, though.
I hope I see a flash of brilliance soon on SOCOM 3, but even more so, I hope that after that flash I can keep my level of gameplay consistent.

it "clicked" for me after like 3 days. as soon as i got my sensitivity figured out i was pulling consistend games at 12/8 scores, and many games with 16/7 or so. in socom 2 i was excited to finish a game above even. i think its more due to the fact that socom 3 is built to better fit my style of play. i tend to camp for a minute, move, camp for a minute, move, and so on. most of my kills come at distances greater then 50 meters. since my accuracy in point blank fire fights leaves a bit to be desired, i had to learn to take advantage of the openness of S3 maps (that is, create distance between me and my enemy.) i think its mostly about figuring out what works best strategically.

It's hard to say. I've ALWAYS loved to snipe, even when I wasnt that good.
Back when I first got SOCOM 2, I picked up a sniper rifle and couldn't snipe to save my life. I dropped the sniper rifles, and reverted back to automatic weapons. After a few months or so doing that, I decided to try sniping once again. I wasnt that good, but better than before. I kept practicing, and NEVER dropped the sniper rifle. After a few months or so sniping, I finally "clicked". I saw myself getting more kills, and getting even more compliments on me sniping. Compliments really boost me up, and seem to improve my game. If I'm sniping, and don't get any type of compliment, I can't seem to do as good. I don't know why, but it's wierd..
Switching to SOCOM 3, sniping wise, was even a little tough. There were a few minor changes, but I think I can still do fairly decent.

Im still waiting to be good consistently...

compliments boost moral, moral boosts skill. that's why generals always rally their troops before a big battle

Yeah, that seems to make a lot more sense. This is the main reason I see myself complimenting a lot of people, mostly on my team; because I know that if I do this, they become more confident and tend to do better.

2 weeks ago my score per game was usually like 7-4, 6-2. And starting a week ago my scores have been 10+ kills a game. For today my stats are
11-3, 14-5, 19-3, and 14-4!

You know...I think practice is the answer. I dont want to sound like a jit sue master because I know this is just a video game. But the most important thing is to be aware of everything. not just the guy you're shooting. the run-and-gun method is more about how you move than when you shoot.
