Obviously it goes without saying I'd wager 99% of people who play Socom use 3rd, me included of course. But I just wanted to know which style of play do you really prefer, 1st person shooters or 3rd person shooters? Myself I like all shooters, but I'd have to say I like 1st person better. There are pros for both sides of the arguement:
3rd Person:
Get to see the actions of your character, movements, getting shot, ect.
Can see more of the battleground and can assess situations faster
Able to see around corners
1st Person:
Theres really only 1 I can think of, but its the only one that counts for me.. More realistic. I prefer realism to 3rd person anyday. You actually have to look around a corner to see someone coming, not just stand at a corner and let your psychic seeing around corners ability get you a kill. Also it gives you more of a being there feel, like you are really on the battlefield seeing through your own eyes, same as it would be in a real war, rather then seeing above and behind yourself like you're having an out of body experience.
I'm sure most everyone will argue that they prefer 3rd, being Socom boards and all, which is cool we all have our preferences, I just prefer more realism in the character aspect thats all. Although I prefer 1st, I can't imagine playing Socom without 3rd person, it wouldn't be Socom without it. 3rd person is the only way to go with this game no doubt.
I only really lie the third person shooter games. First person shooters aren't realistic in the sense that periphial vision isn't included. At least from my perspective of gaming. However I do use the first person on SOCOM 3 quite a bit especially at night with my NVG's. Or when I know my back's secure against a wall etc.
1st person veiw gives me a headache just thinkin' about it. When my friend plays at my house with me, I'm like "dude change that friggin' view, it's givin' me a headache."
I don't know what it is about 1st person, but I can't stand it. The only game that I liked in 1st person was 007 GoldenEye for Nintendo64. That game rocks!!
1st person shooting games tend to be the quicker more action packed shooting games. My guess is because it uses less FPS since the character movements don't have to be added in so they can make the battles a lot quicker.
I like 3rd person simply because those tend to be the more stratiegic team based games.
I like 1st person because of the quick action, speed, and thinking it requires.
I can't say that I like one more than the other. They both hold their own when it comes down to it.

Yea same here. Only game i could play without getting sick was perfect dark for N64 and GoldenEye.
I'd prefer 1st person shooters over 3rd person shooters, but I'm addicted to SOCOM, so I keep playing it, I like 1st person shooters because there's always action, thats why when I play SOCOM I'm usually running around with a sniper rifle or something, favorite 1st person shooter game=UT04

PERFECT DARK WOOT! yup , that was the only first person shooter game i could stand
The first person view gives me a headache as well. I bought the first Quake game when it came out for tht PC. I only played it a few times becouse of the headache and sick feeling that it gave me. I have never bought or played a first person shooter since.
The thing about First-Person is that is if someone is an inch off your screen, when he shoots you SHOULD hear him in front and to the left/right of you. However not everybody can afford surround sound. If you ask me, First-Person will dominate when surround sound and high definition is affordable by all. Right now, Third Person is your best bet.
