I've done this before as I had this idea before getting a wireless bridge.
You have to enable ICS (Internet connection sharing) between your NIC (that you connect your ps2 with a crossover cable) and the wireless adapter on the notebook computer.
As for the crossover cable, you might want to verify that's what you actually have, and not a standard patch cable. Look at both ends of the cable side by side. On a crossover cable, the green/white-green and orange/white-orange wires should be opposite on one from the other, like this:
End 1 (left to right): white-orange>orange>white-green>blue>white-blue>green>white-brown>brown
End 2 (left to right): white-green>green>white-orange>blue>white-blue>orange>white-brown>brown
If both ends are identical, then this is a standard patch cable, not a crossover cable.
