I've done this before as I had this idea before getting a wireless bridge.

You have to enable ICS (Internet connection sharing) between your NIC (that you connect your ps2 with a crossover cable) and the wireless adapter on the notebook computer.

As for the crossover cable, you might want to verify that's what you actually have, and not a standard patch cable. Look at both ends of the cable side by side. On a crossover cable, the green/white-green and orange/white-orange wires should be opposite on one from the other, like this:

End 1 (left to right): white-orange>orange>white-green>blue>white-blue>green>white-brown>brown

End 2 (left to right): white-green>green>white-orange>blue>white-blue>orange>white-brown>brown

If both ends are identical, then this is a standard patch cable, not a crossover cable.

Why couldn't you buy a wireless router for less than 55 bucks and use that?
i think you should be able to...but i'm not in a position to try. i will pick one up next week before my 30 days runs out on the netgear game adapter...(it works very well though)

I have the Wireless Game Adaptor and haven't had much trouble with it. It lags rarely. Also I only paid $40 brand new on zipzoomfly.com (wal-mart had one for $80). It's not bad as long as you don't pay anything over $40.

My brother and I play LAN games with it, he plays in living room connected directly to router and I play in kitchen with the game adaptor. I don't know if it makes a huge difference, but I also changed my routers wireless channel to hopefully reduce interference with other things in my house like cordless phones.

I use a D-LINK gaming adapter. Got it on sale for about $20 and it has great connection.

I've been through a lot of sht to set my PS2 up wirelessly.

I can't use the laptop method because then how would I get pr0n while I was shooting people?

I've filed the DLink wireless bridge and Linksys gaming adaptor in a drawer because they sucked for me. In an apt./dorm/town house there can be too much interference from other wireless access points which prevents a consistently strong signal.

I bought the Logitech Play Link ($100.) That's been flawless. Until, that is, a week ago when the sht mysteriously became defective. I've spoken with Logitech and there is a 1 year warranty so replacement is free. The Play Link is money because each unit is specifically designed to speak to it's pair and ignore all other inteference.

It may be pricey, but it's a lot less than picking up a laptop and it's literally plug and play. No set up required.
