Hahaha, I love the spite an support I've stirred up...
I haven't been owned/schooled/whatever-super-sound-cool-label-you-want-to-use too many times by snipers. And I've spent my share of time sniping. On some maps (specifically the three islands one) when your clan mates don't want to leave, you have to do it in order to survive. This is how I can say that any person in socom can snipe and get at least 3 kills to 1 death, because it is easy.
To whoever said about sniping taking timing and patience to move to cover and tactical positions and all that, forgive me for not packing this reply with quotes. I agree with you, if you're playing a 6+ minute round game or in real life. The fact of the matter is that most often I see someone just run up, prone, and pick off whatever they see. Or, they'll sit in a bush or on the shore line and pick off whatever they see. There have only been a few times that I've been impressed by a sniper.
And no, I'm not a run and gun idiot, we're not playing Rambo here. I do pack an assault rifle, typically the M4A1 in burst mode, and play like an insertion force would; steadily advancing eliminating encountered targets.
My disgust with snipers in Socom 3 stems from the inevitability that no matter how well I'm doing, some scrub with a high scope is probably going to pop me. Additionally, I hate when this does happen and I have to sit the rest of the round out watching 2-3 remaining players on my team sniping (read: lying in a bush praying to get a shot but too pu55y to go out and get some).
Lastly, whoever said that sniping in Socom 2 took a lot more skill, I couldn't agree more.
I'm entitled to my opinion and you don't have to like it.
