A Protest From Canada...(long story but i think good)

This is not my work i found it in a old newpaper clipping colecter. this is really old considering Clinton is no longer persident and the Jean Chretien is no longer prime minister. So don't critize me this aint my work.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Ann landers: Here we are again.

****For the third time whithin a few months, an American professional signer has botched the singing of the Canadian national athem at a major sporting event.
****This follows the Canadian flag being carried upside down at the baseball championships a couple years back
****We Canadians are trying o maintain our sense of humor, but it has gone beyond a joke.
****Can you explain this ignorance? I can't. After all, we speak the same language.
****We're accustomed to seeing Americans show up at the border in July with skis, asking, "Where is the nearest snow?" I once had to reassure a woman from New Jersey that it isn't freezing here in July.
****A shop assiastan I met in the states thought Canada was near France.
****One tourist asked, "Who's the broad on the two-dollar bill?" she was told, "it's the queen, and no, she does not rule Canada."
****Another woamn wanted to know if the Canadian flag came in any other color.
****Even my new American son-in-law asked why Canadians dont clebrate July 4th. (Our national birthday is July 1st.)
****Please, Ann, Your readers to look at a map. They'll be surprised to see that southern Ontario, where millions of Canadians live, is farther south than Maine, Montana, NOrt Dakota and Washington stat.
****We are you biggest trading partners. Canadians spend millions of dollars in the United States, and you know so litle about us.
****In a recent poll, only about 1 pecercent of americans knew that our prime minister is Jean Chretien.
****A Honolulu newspaper had a photo of the recent summit captioned "President Clinton with an unknown man." That "unknown man" was Jean Chretien, the host of the summit.
****And CNN reported that "Jean Chretien, the Canadian prime minister, is taking heat over his country's dcision to proceed with nuclear testing." Canada doesn't have nuclear weapons. They meant President Chirac of France.

****I know you're busy, but I had to get this off my chest.
PUZZLED IN ONTARIO[/i]

It's true! I had some idiot come here during March Break while I was walking with some friends, this guy had his car laden with skis and everything, and asked us

"Why isn't it snowing in here, where are all the skiing hills?" He was clearly appalled. As if Canada is covered in snow all year around, especially south Ontario.

I think it's in Europe or something. I hear it's cold year-round.

That lady should just accept the fact that some people are just plain ignorant. I feel that complaining gives us a bad name.

I agree that we shouldnt complain...but perhaps some of these ignorant Americans could try to educate themselves about their Northern neighbour?

Off the top of my head, Vincente Fox.

That's really sad though. Canada near France?
