Whaaaaaaat? No. "in real life war you not alowed to shoot people with a .50 cal." ooookay. You mean the geneva convention?? You can shoot people with a .50 if your a soldier on a specific mission. If you shoot someone with a .50 in socom 3 they die you get points. If you blow up a vehicle with a .50 isnt that the same as shooting them?

O yeah, and thanks c0mm for copying and pasting the blog update so i didn't have to website hop.

No...shooting a vehicle and disenabling it is A LOT different than shooting someone in the back and having part of their body blow to peices. And im not saying i don't like have ing the luxtury in the game to snipe some one with a .50 cal and getting one shot kill. but i love to get the m40 and get some awsome headshots that acctually take skill.

just my opinion. dont start flaming

So, in my opinion, I think that this will be a better thing for the game, making sniping not easier or harder, but just different.
It won't be quite that far for most maps. From what I've seen, its about 1.5 times further than socom II and beyond that is just untextured images for the most part. I personally think they should allow the 1 shot kill, but I see their logic in not allowing it. The .50 cals were the only sniper rifles used by anyone sniping that didn't want to have the challenge of the m40a1 or the rapid shooting of the SR's. The m40a1 got left in the dust along with the SASR because they were for the most part unnecessary to use in comparison to the .50 cals or the silenced SR-25. Now I believe that zipper is trying to let people use all guns, and that they will each have a different feel. In socom II all of the rifles had a similar feel to them, I hope that this is not the case in socom III. I do have a fear that the .50 cals will be obsolete now because they will most likely weigh alot.

Honestly, I think this is horrible. Making .50 cal rifles 2-shot kills is illogical and Zipper's reason isn't sound. Every sniper I've talked to hates this idea. It's going to make the big rifles pointless, since they'll be little more effective than the others and will weigh you down more. There will be a huge outcry if this flat out retarded idea gets implemented into the final product. They're trying to fix something that isn't broken again. I would've thought Zipper learned this lesson from Socom 2 already.

The Geneva Convention doesn't govern how we fight our wars. They're nothing more than paper pushers who like to pass ludicrous regulations. It's not inhumane to shoot someone with a .50 caliber rifle. The intent was to kill regardless of the gun and whether or not the body is one piece after the fact doesn't matter. If that were so, then we wouldn't use artillery, bombs, or grenades. I don't think snipers who have done it received any punishment. Do you think the guys shooting in those ogrish.com videos got into trouble? I don't think so.

Im sorry but there are no rules in real war. Both sides dont go over what guns and size of bullet they are allowed to use. There is no lobby like socom. Anything goes

definitely agree with Cylcon, and one thing, maybe every sniper wil be like the M40, super steady, making headshots easier, good snipers also give a huge advantage to the team.... if half the terr's go into battle with half their life, then the seals will most likely win

if the 50 cals arent one shot kills anymore they need to be taken out of the game for realism. a friend in the corps said that .50 cals can tear skin from 6 inches away from the target on a near miss now that just says 1shot kill if nuttin else

No doubt that 50 cal bullets can do that. Zipper must be trying to balance the game out so snipers arent so overpopulated. They better come with a reason because Im still a little confused on why it went to 2 shots, but as I stated early if the scope are all like the m40 it might not be so bad

goodness guys this was about the ENTIRE blog, not just the sniping part. Anyway, what kind of bugs did testers find in the beta.
