I'm with LuFeng... I listen to everything, from Eminem to Beethoven to King Crimson, but country music never really did it for me (especially new country, although Johhny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot and some of the older country artists had something).
But, I'm from the shool of thought that, if the lyrics aren't there, the music won't be there either, that is, without the lyric there is no music (good music, that is, sure, you can put some cool chords and a decent melody over trite lyrics, but the song won't have much resonance).
Really, anybody whose lasted in the music business and has written great music has had good lyrics - its how you separate the men from the boys, so to say.
