London Terror Attacks
Quote:
Two die in London terror blasts
TV coverage
Two people have been killed and scores have been injured after at least seven blasts on the Underground network and a double-decker bus in London.
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair said it was "reasonably clear" there had been a series of terrorist attacks.
He said it was "particularly barbaric" that it was timed to coincide with the G8 summit. He is returning to London.
An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks.
London's police chief Sir Ian Blair said there had been "many casualties" but it was too early to put a figure to those killed or injured.
More than 100 casualties and one of the dead were taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
And St Mary's Hospital said it was dealing with 26 injured people, including four with critical injuries and eight in a serious condition.
Sir Ian urged people to stay where they were and not to call emergency services unless it was a life-threatening situation.
He reassured the public that an emergency plan was in place and the situation was "steadily coming under control".
Scotland Yard said explosions have been reported at Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate.

I was personally really shocked by this. I dont live in london any more, but I do have a family member up there, and I have no idea how she is.
Its well timed coinciding with G8 and london winning the olympic bid.
At the moment there are only two confirmed dead..but im sure that will rise. Though i think the aim of the attacks was to put London into chaos..tagetting travel during rush hour times.

I've been following cnn since the first disturbance. This is definitely meant to unsettle G8 and/or the olympic committee.

To all those people that don't think the USA should be in a war against terror. Look at this a reason to be in the war. Because These terrorist are targeting inocent people all over the world. I've seen images and shows with British people protesting the war, from what I gether it was a large majoraty at that. I really feel for our brothers across the ocean, and I hope the rest of the missing is still alive. But it's time for the entire world to come together and fight back. Because it looks like to me, that these attacks are only going to get worse if we don't. If we don't fight back these wankers will take over the world, and by god I want to keep my freedoms.

I agree completely, mike. Hopefully, if there is a silver lining to this horrible catastrophe, it is that the world may understand that we need to fight terrorism not only at home but also abroad, much like America after 9/11. It's very sad how one day the G8 can be associated with Live8 and its selflessness, then the next day the G8 summit is the instigating force in a terrorist attack. What the hell is the world coming to?

Its up to 40 dead and over 700 injured...
I just don't understand why these terrorist groups target world powers.... the USA has just about the best military in ther world, and Britain does too. And yet we get attacked by these terrorists. They don't seem to understand that the American and British armed forces are going to be all over the terrorist's home countries. They just pissed us off even more. There is no way they can be ready for the hell that has been unleashed for them.
Anyone who is reading this who is part of the US Armed Forces, I thank you for doing your duty to keep our country protected. Hopefully future attacks like this can be prevented and the people behind these abominable actions will be punished.
