I guess i'll post some pics we've taken here, just to gloat. :P
This is all in a small city called Nara:

This is the tallest building in the city. Very old too.

Nearby is this shrine. All of the shrines here have incense burning and this gong-like thingy. The buddhists come up and silently say a prayer and gong the gong thrice, then say another prayer and walk away. There are numerous little rituals all around.

This is the front gate to a hugungous temple. Notice how small the people are.

This is the actualy temple. It is ginormous. Again, notice the relative size of the people.
Inside the temple is a huge, 40-foot statue of Buddha. There is no scale in the picture, but i can tell you that it is almost as high as the temple is on the outside.
Just a huge bell thingy.
Nearby is another temple with this huge wooden pagoda.

All around the park are these small shrines with little gongs. Thats me being a god.
Yes, well, thats it for now i guess. We're going to kyoto and osaka later so i'll post any splendiferous things from there.
P.S. Sorry some pictures are sideways, i was holding the camera that way and havent gotten a chance to put them right side up,
