Anyways, something i think socom 3 should definately have and that i'm pissed socom 2 didnt is this: putting your eye about 3 inches closer doesn't make it more accurate! it really bugs me that in socom 2, all the snipers have complete crap accuracy out of scope, and it just isn't realistic. I have no idea why they would do such a thing, becuase if the damn things were as accurate out of scope as they were in, i would actually use the M87/M82s without worrying so much about a pistol! It would be sweet to run around with them and not have to constantly switch.
In real life, a friggin sniper pointed at you in close range is just as much a threat as a shotgun, goddammit!
Yes! I agree completely with you. I don't understand how a sniper rifle all of a sudden becomes inaccurate when out of scope. It should work like a shotgun out of scope.

Please gimme your views people.
Seriously!! I was just about to make a post on this (no kidding I seriously was). The sniping sucks in Socom II!!! Every guns scope wiggles so much, and you never have time to really take an accurate shot becuase the people are running around. Also, the M82A1A is horrible!! The little yellow diamond that shows you where you hit isnt even at your crosshairs, its usually down in the corner. Also the 552 has a crappy silencer. You can only get a good shot of in the scope to. As you said " putting your eye 3 inches closer doesnt make it more accurate" you are completely right. Try this in a game. Get 5 feet away from a guy with a sniper, without using the scope try to hit him. You cant do it. Sniping has to be completely redone in this Socom III

yeah, if you ever noticed it dosent always go where it says it will in 3rd person, but first person is dead on accyrate. and what does the range mean? the m82 has horrible accuracy 2 feet away from you when running or moving a bit, yet it has the most range in the game. teh friggin m60 is more accurate while running.
Heaven forbid they make sniping realistic! In real life, if you fired a .50 cal' rifle standing you would be knocked straight on your ass. If you ever fired a .50 cal rifle prone it is the most painful thing you will ever experience. When I fired a AI AW-50. the thing was practically nailed to the ground. A .50 cal rifle isn't a anti personnel rifle, it is made to shoot through engine blocks and walls... Even shooting a .302 is painful... And your complaining about a wiggly scope, well just be thankful you don't have to adjust it! Also in Socom 2, you don't need to worry about wind speed and direction. Hell even humidity can screw up a shot.

Finally someone else that knows what the hell there talkin about.
Also,i dont think yall seem to realize how EXTREMLY heavy a Barret .50 is.
I held one at a gun show they had here and that thing is so god damn heavy, you would HAVE to be in prone to fire it effectivly.
Yes exactly, you're lucky the game lets you shoot the freakin sniper while running, it is impossible in real life. The same goes with the DE.50, It's a 50 caliber pistol for crying out loud! There is no way you can shoot that with one arm, let alone while running. You would simply lose an elbow if you tried. As for the snipers while out of scope, they are innacurate. Simple as that. If you are running around with a gun, not looking through the scope and it doesn't have open sights, you WILL miss a person from 10 feet away. There is nothing to use as a sight when out of the scope. And plus, if it was more accurate, it would destroy the game. People would run around with M87's and just peg people from 50 yards away with no scope, no problem.
If I flamed, I didn't mean to, but people need to look into stuff before they start posting crap. This isn't Unreal Tournament, it's a Navy Seal inspired, very realistic game.

Socom 3 did something wrong, maybe it's because they went to "3" instead of "III"?

id rather them keep it like it is because if they changed it to what the original poster was saying then youd see very few snipers use pistols and nothing but non scoped combat and shotgunning and thats not what its about...when you snipe...you look through the scope.the handgun is there for a reason, but hey just my view

i have a video of a marine ballistic demonstration of the barret 50 and the guy gives the how to of the gun to the camera, shows off the barrel and brake and such and then they fire it, 10 shots in a row at one point, from a prone position, to fire it without being prone with a bipod would destroy you as much as it destroyed what it hit, though it wouldn't hit anything, you'd be on the losing end of the battle...i wish the sniping was more realistic but it's what we have...and i love the game
The only reason why the scope is inacurate while you're in 3rd person view, is due to the reticule. Look at the circle, the bullet could go anywhere within the reticule.
