I don't see the point of that, unless you're implying some sort of corporate scheme which would benefit only people who care about their rank...

I agree with the fact that top ten rank is definite ********, and a slap in the face. The fact that Zipper doesnt do anything about it is also a slap in the face. But then again there are thousands of people who come online just to rank up. Zipper prunning the stats and consecutive banning would get rid of a lot of accounts. It seems like Sony wouldnt want to lose all of those customers. They already have DNAS to stop "real" cheaters.. why would they worry about the people who bounced around the system that they created?

It sucks I know, but its out of our hands. Sony is more intersted in numbers than our opinions

Guys don't be whiners... nobody likes a whining *****. SONY can't just go off and delete those names because it's both unethical and immoral. Players will just get disgruntled and either hack the system like that one dude did to piss everyone off, or they will file lawsuit and win (we all know the kinds of sh1t people can pull nowadays in the courtroom...)

Didn't you read my first post where I talk about VAC2 for Counterstrike?

Along with Counterstrike running, it has a built in program called VAC2 - VALVE ANTI CHEAT 2, which is pretty damn hard to get around these days. If anyone is caught cheating, their account gets deleted, and their IP gets banned.. PERMANENTLY. They can never play another Valve game online again! (from the same IP) That means if I'm caught cheating on CS, I can't even play Half Life 2, because it connects to the Valve servers before you play to make sure your not on the blacklist and that your using a legit version of the game.
Don't you see that? If I cheat on Counterstrike, I can go buy Half Life 2 for 50 bucks in the store. Then I go home to run it, and it wont run. You can't even play the single player. Because it connects to the Valve server, and crossreferences your IP against the blacklist. Valve has no tolerance for cheating in the new CS. You used to get away with it, but now it's nearly impossible. Yeah you could get a new IP, but it doesn't let you on anyway. Thats because accounts are linked to the CD. Meaning if Zipper gave us 3 accounts each, and it was linked to your CD, they could ban your IP and your particular account. You'd have to get a new IP and a new Socom disk.

And anyway, the whole point is that if we know the top 10 players are glitchers, why post their names? They should just remove that feature where you see them every time you go past "players" on the main menu. Even if they couldn't remove cheating and didn't want to delete accounts, they could at least fight against it a few easy ways: Remove the whole Admiral rank to begin with. Then don't show the names of the top 10 players. That would cause a less lot people to be interested in ranking up.

Me and my friends have shut down a few rankup rooms, and we've massacred some people in GNKs, and i think that the more of us that do stuff like that, the less the cheaters will cheat. Hopefully.

RE: TOP 10 CHEATERS

In my own personal opinion.... Removing the ranking status is NOT the solution. One resolution to this problem could be, that, perhaps in Socom 3, they could have a rank system only enabled in rooms that are occupied by an official Host. Anything out of a Hosted Room, Points-Rank are null and void.

That's a good idea, but do you mean a human host, or a computer host?? Because I don't think anyone would wanna watch people play all day long...

Human host, well heck, a job is a job. Perhaps a room that can be supplied with a "Request for a Host situation" button. Or how about the impossible, set the room's with a software deterent application that can detect and warrant off suspecting cheater or glitcher's, and boot/place restrictions on said accounts.
