Rep Power: 5 | Might ruin another good game I was an owner of SOCOM 2 and played online quite frequently. I got rid of the game... I couldn't take it anymore with all the people using and promoting glitches, constantly using only the best weapons (IW 80 A2) and for the most part people lagging out and destroying the servers by making a private game with a password and putting a title like "gone for a few hours".
Although I found that the loading process online to be a bit long, (this is probably why people became lazy and just left their PS2's on cloggin the servers) it just became to not worth playing.
My friend has recently bought Halo 2. Looking at how well and organized Halo 2 online is compaired to SOCOM 2 just amazed me! Everyone had a green ping. Loading times were fast (I know this was because of the XBOX's HD) but also it was clean because there is no way for people to idle in servers.
Unfortunately in SOCOM 3 there will be glitches that will not be discovered until the game is already popular... There will be people that make the game unpleasent and there will probably be server problems. I hope I am wrong and I hope to be proven wrong on this, but if SOCOM 3 could fix problems such as the ones I have stated a create a clean environment for online play, then this game along with the awsome single player campaign might just be one of the best games I will ever played.
Thank you for reading... ______________________

Rep Power: 7 | Socom needs a brand new server, if people idle they will boot them like 10 mins after idle. Glitches will always be in all kinds of games and halo isnt as perfect as you think it is. I found a wall glitch in halo 2, I havnt told anybody about it because it would fuck up the fun on it. |

Rep Power: 8 | no, ten minutes is too short. maybe 5 hours, because that would help people out if they forget to turn it out.
maybe a feature that will lessen the amount of time in the lobby. like how Frost Fire Respawns keep getting ruined by like 2 or 3 people who arent at there ps2s. ps, did you sell your disc or just throw it out? i learned the hard way that its cheaper and better to sell something that you dont want than to just break it. |

Rep Power: 5 | well your just have to find a grup of people to play with, like your clan vs a allie that way every one is happy, get to know the people you like to play with and spend more time with them, insted of going to play with cheaters and / or laggers ______________________

Rep Power: 0 | its not all good on Halo2 either, you'll find just as many glitchers and people using standby on there, I've seen lag on halo that makes even the worst lag on socom look like nothing. |

Something is also unique to Halo2 online; standby. People use the standby button on routers to stop the game for everyone but themselves. It is to the point where you cannot play a single ranked game without getting cheated against. All anyone uses (I, myself, was one of the original users of the combo and have no remorse or regret for using it) is the plasma pistol to battle rifle combo. Back in November and December only a handfull of players knew about it, but now it is the only thing anyone uses. Much like the IW for socom. Quote: |

However, the inability to choose your own maps, guns, or anything for that matter in ranked matches makes socom2 the game of choice. Matchmaking is the most retarded piece of crap in any online game. You should have complete control (like socom gives us) over everything in game. The way socom setup their servers was fantastic. A little work needs to be done on the quality of the servers and the servers themselves for that matter. Xbox is always going to be faster. Unless you opporate your online for ps2 through the HDD xbox is going to be far more advanced 10/10 times. Unfortunatly the downside to this implication is that you have to pay monthly to play on Halo2 or any live game. There are ways to go idle, as in make your own game and sit in the lobby. However the game only takes up bandwidth while you are in an active game. Thus, this would never mess with servers. Those "BRB" rooms are annoying, but the same goes for socom. You don't really mess with each server unless you make 1000 rooms. The universe or other servers will not be affected even if that was the case. Quote: |

Socom is popular and glitches will always be found. It is hard for them to get everything. Daily maintenence may be more than sony picking their arses this time round, and perhaps we will see more done to repair these glitches and server faults. Halo2 has far more glitches as stated prior to this comment, and compared with socom I would say this ratio is accurate: For everyone 1 socom glitch there are 10 halo glitches. Just because you know socom better does not mean there are less glitches in Halo. I can think of 20 right off the top of my head and I haven't played since january. Quote: |

There is more racism and cursing on that game than any other online game I have ever played. The typical Halo2 player is an 8yr old who thinks throwing racial slurs he just learned at school to anyone online is funny. Everyone cheats, and when I say everyone I really mean everyone. Have you looked at the ranks lately? If you think Halo2 is a clean environment you are poorly mistaken and utterly ignorant. Halo2 offline missions were great. Socom, in my opinion, has always been gimped in offline play. This time they are working hard on offline and it will prove to be excellent. I will get Halo3, but I doubt I will play online after my experiences with Halo2. ______________________ "Got tight on Absinthe last night.
