I think your just not putting a whole lot of thought into it. With vehicles online, there would be a lot more strategy involved to take them out. For example, if the Seal's are using the hummer, you could take a tank and park it in front of the entrance to the base or something. Then they could either run into it and blow up, or they'll stop and try to figure something out, so toss a grenade and boom, you got yourself a couple kills. Or, if the terrorists are driving around in a tank, plant a couple claymores and blow the tank to pieces. So really, with vehicles, you'll have more players crammed into one place, so you have a better chance at multiple kills. I'd love to see some mortars in online though . It would also be nice to be able to plant bombs on a vehicle if they decide to put them in online.
Look at it this way; they could either keep the game the same, which would be a disappointment because then it would really only be an expansion of Socom 2, or they could take a chance at making an incredible game. They haven't disappointed us yet, have they?

I did say it will ruin it for me. I have thought about it and I just think it will ruin the "stealthy" element of the game.

I would hope that if they do have vehicles online that it would be an option that you could turn off when you create a room. How you can make a room pistols only or no bombs, they should make it where you could have it no vehicles too if they have them online.

Is Socom 3 not going to be online at all??
|
Course it is, they have only released info about single player for now.
|
Good, I was scared for a moment. Reminds me of the first time I heard St. Anger would have no solos.

Man, the gun that they are using looks sweet. And it sounds sweet too. Looks like a pretty darn good gun. I could just hear the noob cannon complaints already.
I can't wait for this game.

i honestly hope to god they dont have tanks in online. for one thing, i dont remember seals being able to drive tanks, and two: for all of you who have palyed CoD:UO, tanks just make it kind of boring. its fun for a while, but after a while it turns into a tank-fest. and just gets boring, im all for jeeps and stuff, but not tanks. too...big and explosive. and if so, maybe only in HUGE levels.

Another problem with having vehicles and 5x larger levels is that these contribute heavily to the lag factor... The party host will have to keep track of an increasing number of players (NPCs in the case of vehicles) and this won't help solve the #1 issue with SII online. Unless Zipper chooses to really let servers, not host players, coordinate the games, in which case we'll probably see a subscription-based online game just like some competition has already put into place. IMHO this would not be a bad idea if a moderate monthly fee could guarantee a smooth online experience instead of the current frustrating one.
Now I know this is a wishlist type of idea and will not be found in Socom III, but what would you guys think of some persistent battlefield in the likes of some MMORPGs, where you could join the war at any time of day and help your side push the frontline further into enemy territory? Wouldn't that be cool?
