I don't like this idea.
One, it would lead to many people having higher intentions to achieve a large post count. This would mean more spam, more work for the Mods, and a big pain in the ***.
Two, we'd have people running around with any nickname, which would get somewhat confusing.
If this idea was to happen, I'd say make it the highest possible. If it were 600, all the non-staff members would send a PM to DaKilla, asking for a new rank.
I just don't like this idea. Not because I have a specific rank already, hell, I love this rank.

Then if they spam they don't get the rank. It is as simple as that!

Thats not simple at all, who's the one to define wether its spam or not? There might be some confrontations about it too...like...
"my posts aren't spam"
"yes they are"
it'll escalate from there....all I'm saying is that idea is not so simple.

I honestly don't think it would even be utilized that much. I doubt it would even be any incentive to spam.
Just what I think. :D

Yeah now that I think about it. I guess it would be a lot of work. If Dakilla wants to do it, then it would be fine. But I would not want him to have too much work.

I accually change my vote...if i could. I mean sure it would be a cool idea, but we would have alot of...not spam...but stoopid replys such as:
"LOL"
"Ya, good map"
or my favorite from a person who has been here 6 days
"Yeah, thats your best one so far."
I'll admit, i used to do that crap, but then I realized I was being a d|ck. And even though the forum newbies may come to realize that, the new newbies will keep spamming, and most will prob get tired after a while for trying to get to that 'make your own name' point. I think i may be off topic...im stoopid....but i dont think that this is a productive/necessary idea.
The End. w00t

The question of what we would define as spam came up earlier. Strictly speaking, I would define it as a post that breaks and of the rules.

That is an except from the forum rules. Anything that breaks any part of any rule is spam. If a user repeatedly breaks the rules and breaks them by a wide margin, he should and obviously would be refused a custom rank. On the other hand, how many people with over one thousand posts constantly breaks the rules? We've either driven out or trained all of the rule breakers. Except for new members, of course, but we can forgive them.

I just thought of a better idea. Instead of having the option at a certain number of posts, it could be given to certain people. People would become eligible at DK's whim, and recieve notice of the fact. Then, they could choose the custom rank, which would be awarded to them. This would eliminate most arguments. There would still be arguments about not getting to have a special rank even though someone with less posts got one, but it wouldn't be hard just to tell the person to shut up.

This could lead to a "favorite" game.
"I didn't get picked because DaKilla hates me..."
Not saying it will, but it could.
I don't know, I just don't like the entire idea in general.
People may want their names "Best Socom Player", or things like that. Some people may be offended by those ranks...
Again, I just don't like the idea in general.
If it was 1,500 posts, I don't think I'd have a problem with that, because that would limit the number of people to very few. I just don't want to see many people running around with different ranks.
