Well people can carry it around, an heavy mahcine gun would be a mounted one, RMG's are more heavy but don't look like it in Socom 2. Also M14 is an assault rifle, the M60 is not. There's a difference between a machine gun and an assault rifle, machine guns are guns that fires rapidly and repeatedly whereas assault rifles are any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles designed for individual use in combat.
And the M60 is NOT an assault rifle.
So I'll think I'll give the correct answer to the question that started this thread. The M14 is the most powerful assault rifle in the game. Period
Well if you had bothered to take the time to read the entire thread then you would know that the M14 had been established as the most powerful Assault Rifle on the first page of this topic. Teh mob and I just got a little of topic and were “discussing” the "classification" of the M60E3.

It was my understanding that the RMG was a .50 mounted Heavy Machine Gun. But I will have to investigate this in more detail and report back here if this doesn’t get locked. :D
It's funny to see how the most powerful weapon (in this case assault rifle) from SOCOM 2 is a weapon from around 1956. it was developed to replace M1 i think (WW2 rifle) but only lasted from '56 to 1960 or something like that and then came the first version of the M 16. was barely used by the US Army (m14 has the shortest life record for a rifle used in the US Army. compare it to the M16/car-15 family, about 40 years)
hmmmm...... if the M14 is that accurate and powerful, maybe the US should have sticked to it for a bit longer and hold the M16 production for later, and then the US could have done better in Vietnam :? anyone thought about that??? i wonder why the M14 lasted that long.

it wasent a reliable assault rifle. it was never really accurate outside of single shot (duh) and jammed a bunch. the M16A1 jammed a bunch too but it was more accurate and easier to use than the M14.
Vietnam is the war that housed most of the use for the M14... not WWII. half way through vietnam is when they developed the M16A1 and that quickley took the M14's place.

of course that the M-14 was mostly used in Vietnam. i just said that it was the rifle between the M1 from WW2 and the M16.
or another way to put this, M14 is like an AK 47 with HIGHER fire rate.
Powerful bullet at high firerate. if you dont believe me, look at the bullet. 7.62 mm.
Put an AK with a HIGH fire rate. what do you get? an M-14
