everything is a matter of ability and skill. A new person to the game will have problems with a pistol or sniper ETC. but for new people the m 14 is the best all around to start with plus it is on both seals and terrorists side once you get the hang of running and shooting and diving and all that fun stuff then it is a matter of what the player is comfortable with. i am an all around ak fan. the slower rate of fire is compensated by the impact potential so your hit percent is better.

Actually the M60E3 is a Light Machine Gun. An example of a Heavy Machine Gun would be the mounted RMG’s.

where do you get off saying that? the RMG would be classified as a "mounted heavy machine gun" the M60 is still a "heavy machine gun" because the mags are big and they are used for support fire.

nice find but i still dont see whats so "light" about it.

it is a support fire weapon and in nearly everything you see, you would see the SAW/M60/M63 as a heavy, supporting fire weapon.

Well people can carry it around, an heavy mahcine gun would be a mounted one, RMG's are more heavy but don't look like it in Socom 2. Also M14 is an assault rifle, the M60 is not. There's a difference between a machine gun and an assault rifle, machine guns are guns that fires rapidly and repeatedly whereas assault rifles are any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles designed for individual use in combat.
And the M60 is NOT an assault rifle.
So I'll think I'll give the correct answer to the question that started this thread. The M14 is the most powerful assault rifle in the game. Period
