we are always mad at n00bs for not using the search button.

I've seen it happen before, http://www.wgppress.com has a flashing search button, the text just flashes blue I think. Ours could flash...red....or white or something.

That or make it bigger so that it is more noticeable.

If it was possible, have members with less than ten or twenty posts be redirected to the search page, that could work.

Even better: Every thirty seconds you get a pop-up that says some things like:
"Use the search button"
"Use the search button, dumbass!"
"I DON'T SEE YOU SEARCHING, YOU PIECE OF DIRT!"
"YOU THINK YOU'RE TOUGH, YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN JUST POST A NEW THREAD WITHOUT SEARCHING FIRST? COME ON, TOUGH GUY, LETS TAKE THIS OUTSIDE!!"

That would be awesome!


p.s. I like the flashing search button idea too. Actually, maybe a small message above the subject area for when you're creating a new thread would be helpful. Not so extreme as my messages above, maybe just "What you're going to talk about might already be being discussed! Click here to find it."

that really wouldnt work... its just too much and too annoying after a while.

if possible, where the chat room login used to be, that would be the best place to put a flashing search button. bigger and in the middle of the top of the page. if people miss it, God help us all...
