Taking PS2 and Socom with me to work and on Vacation :) Cool

I have a lap top with wireless g card in it. I have a new ps2 with built in eithernet adapter. I bought the S-video out for the ps2 "better resolution".

Well I just notice that my lap top has a S-video input. So I'm thinking I can take my ps2 and lap top and play just about anywhere there is a wireless connection. For sound I can use a rca to mini head phone jack. And walla! I've got a rolling gaming system.

Has anyone tried to do this? How did it turn out? I was thinking for buisness trips, vacation, even lunch break at work. Picture that the boss walking by and I got my headset on yelling out $@^%$@^@^%^.

Only problems would be ports and network issues

:P

There may be some problems configuring it; I've tried setting something similar up before with no luck.

Of course this was a while ago and I only spent about 10 minutes on it...

Good luck. :D

I’m confused. It sounds like you think connecting your s-video to your notebook will get you internet access on your ps2 if the notebook Is connected to a wireless network.
That should give you a picture on the notebook but you would need to use a network cable to connect you PS2 to the notebook as well and try to route the connection through the notebook. It would depend on what OS you have, the way the wireless network is setup, do you have a wired NIC on the notebook to connect the PS2 to and possible other things to do this. It might be easier to just get a wireless bridge and hope for the best.

This should be possible with:

- RCA to mini-jack Y-cable for sound, plugged into a line-in input on laptop.
- If that really is an S-VIDEO input, not a TVOUT like most laptops have
- You also have a standard ethernet port in the laptop, then you could connect to the PS2 with a crossover cable and enable ICS on the wireless adapter.

Then yes, you could play Socom 2 anywhere you could find a hotspot.

Edit: whoops, you got one more problem I forgot about, that would be DNAS. You may very well get DNAS error -881 because you would likely be firewalled at any hotspot and there wouldn't be much you could do about it. But it might be worth a try, and you could at least do it at other people's houses where you could get access to their router config.
