Stupid Newbie Questions

Hey, I am a noob -- just got Socom a couple of nights ago.. have a few questions that I can't figure out the answer to:

1. Is there any way to hear the voice chat if you don't have a headset? I see the icon showing that people are speaking but no voices.

2. When do your stats update? I have been playing for three days and when I go to the player ranking screen and look at my stats they are the exact same as they were the first day I played.

3. Sometimes when I press the fire button my rifle does nothing for a second -- only starts firing after I hit the button a few times. Is this lag or just the way the game is?

Any help appreciated... thanks...

1, don't think so. only other thing i can think of would be some usb computer speakers but that prob won't work and with that money you may as well get a cheap headset

2, are you just playing respawn rooms? that's all i did when i first started and took me a while to figure that out......if not i'm not sure. are you logging off the network correctly? may have something to do with it..

3, not sure what that is...i seem to remember having that problem as well a while back....make sure you're ammo is loaded and you're not running around with an empty magazine or clip...could be lag.....maybe a bad button on the controller....other guy has hit you first before you could get a shot off..

Thanks for the help... yeah I have been playing mostly respawn rooms. They don't count towards your stats?

P.S. - Were you just playing in a respawn room like twenty minutes ago? I think I may have been playing with you...

no respawn does not count towards your stats,..

about the gun thing make sure your fire rate is full auto. 4 bullets should show just below your gun, if not press L3/Select

My gun is on full auto but I don't use it like that -- I usually just tap the button once for one shot (I dunno -- being able to pop it like four times real quick just feels better than full auto... POP POP POP :) )

Should I change my fire mode to semi-auto since I play like this?

Also, it happens a lot when you get inot the game and see a person and press R3 to hard and accidentally reload when you want to fire. Or if you hear clicking you just ran out of your clip. And single shot is good for far away but up close I prefer auto. Sometimes with this lag you may seem like you hit them a bunch of times yet you don't, so full auto kinda prevents that as you'll put a crapload of bullets in them to make sure they die.,

I think when you're in a firefight, full auto is the best way to go...especially if you're just starting, but for if you're shooting at a target thats far away, just yea use burst and just send a couple bullets their way, a lot more accurate and easy to control than auto.

Usually when I do stuff like binocular snipe with my M14 I leave it in full-auto and just tap R1 a couple of times and the guy is always dead (unless he moved real quick once I zoomed out)
