i just dont trust wireless set ups.especially for online gaming, hell just a split second of lag could be the difference.your better off just drillin a hole and running up or to your room.not sayin all wireless set ups suck but like i said im just a lil hesitant to go wirelss untill it is fullproof and proven as effective, and reliable as regular set up through modem with ethernet.

You don't need to add an HDD to get a wireless set-up for you PS2, do you?

No need for the HDD. In a nut shell it is like a bridge that conects you to your router. Real easy to set up almost plug and play...

Good, cause I'm getting the wireless set-up for myself for X-MASS. Got it sitting where the tree will go with my name on it.

(A bonus present to myself for getting my X-MASS shopping done early this year )

Even the slowest wireless connection is 11MB/s. I know that for me as well as anyone who has a private highspeed connection (excluding college kids with a T1), the fastest upload you can get is like 45KB/s. The fastest upload I have ever seen is 110KB/s and that was highly exceptional.

That being said, your wireless connection would have to be running REDICULOUSLY slow in order for the bottleneck of the system be the network connection at your house.

I have a wireless G AP jumping a gap where we don't have wires and nobody has ever complained to me about lag.

I have a wireless network in my house using the 802.11b standard(11mbps) and have a dsl connection and i get uploads that burst at 250kbps and level off at about at about 175kbps. It's awesome, I have rarely ever had a problem with it. And I am one of the few guys in my clan that never lags or get booted. There a few precautions that you can take to ensure that wireless connection works at top speed. Here are few:

1.)Try not to have a microwave in the direct path of your access point(wireless router) and your bridge. The frequency that the microwave operates at or emits is at the same wavelength that router communicates on. If there is a microwave in the middle the only time you will notice performance issues is when it is in use.
2.)Try not operate your cordless phone on the same channel as the router and bridge operating on. Linksys by default uses channel 6. Most cordless phones come with ability to change channels usually 99 separate channels. There is only a 1 in 99 shot of it landing on the same channel but if it does just change it.
3.)If you live in multiple level house, you want to place access point at the highest possible floor.
4.)If you do notice that you are getting booted or you have to continue to reset your router, make sure you have the latest firmware.

Raven is right on...One of my biggest head aches was dissconnection mid game, I got the latest firmware update on both the router and the bridge and she screams along now.
