GTA: San Andreas vs. SOCOM II

san andreas....in one word...wow....these guys left nothing out...i can honestly say that PS2's lack of online play wont be missed...the vast ammount of stuff in the single player game will keep u busy for a long time....to make up for PS2's no online play....get a buddy over and raise hell through the town with the co-op 2 player missions...i can honestly say that San Andreas simply is THE best title ive ever had the privelege of playing which is shocking considering it isnt for online...(at least not on PS2)....if you want a game that is more addictingthan socom...will take 300+ hours to complete...and will suck you right in....being the best game uve played...buy San Andreas now...you feel like a true gangsta when ur goin through the ghetto....

WARNING: the 1st hour of the game is a little slow...but dont get discouraged...after that it picks up and sucks u in...u can almost do anything in the game...just wait till ur looking over Vinewood in your mansion and driving out the the track to bet for races...or lifting and working out...these are even small aspects of the game...you will be able to do bigger and better things as the game unfolds....im only 2-3 hours into the game and im hooked....INVEST your $50.00 bucks in this game and i PROMISE it wont disapoint

why does every game that comes out compared to socom 2 now?
especially GTA, i mean there is no comparison.to you and others it may rival socom with hours of fun etc, but to me the main and only reason i still play socom like i do is the interaction with others. once again ive made some really cool friends i wouldve never met otherwise, how can GTA compare to that? :P

Every game being compared to S2 is kinda lame now, but it's just cuz this is a s2 forum... I love GTA:SA, but I would be able to compare it to S2 if i tried. They're both awesome.
p.s. how do you do 2 player? I had an idea, but since im here, I thought i'd ask first.

the reason alot of games are compared to S2 because Socom is considered to be the best ps2 game out there!

Thats like comparing apples to oranges. S2 has been out since...November '03, and GTA:SA in October '04. That is almost a full year. The way technology changes these days, it may as well have been 10 years. Also, If you are going to compare the games, at least limit your comparison to the 1 player mode.

If I had to compare the 2, completely different games, I would have to go with GTA:SA. Just because the world is so huge, and you are able to just free roam if you choose, or do missions. Its too bad that they could'nt come up with a way to have GTA online. We could do "cops and robbers", or different gangs could fight for territory.

I will always have my eye on the SOCOM series, but major changes need to be made. I dont forsee any real major changes until at least PS3, but I hope they prove me wrong.

Yea, it is like comparing apples to oragnges. I would say San Andres would win though. It has splinter cell tatcics in it, (more stealth, and cut throughts)

Yes GTA has more stealth than socom NAVY SEALS i havent played GTA yet but come on please tell me your kidding.

Vice City was mostly shoot+drive, i dont like San Andreas because of the vast variety of dumb missions, such as dancing and low rider competitions, i am stuck on this stupid dance mission for 3 days now, its feakin impossible..

BUT i love to go up on the VINEWOOD hill and fly down like 200 feet on to the highway with the nitrous and the screen is all blury an the wipe out is crazy like 30 cars on the highway flip over and sh*t
