I hear this from alot of people... I think that the difficulty is a bit higher than Vice City (or even GTA3), but nothing out of the ordinary. Then again, I am the Grand Theft Auto junkie... and I don't think any of the games were especially tough.

Yeah I just got it and so far its pretty easy, nothing I had to try more than two or three times to complete. Plus the game is so freakin huge. I've only been to about 1/6 of the level and I'm already always lost.

Gta SA is also compared to Halo2 but the halo/xbox fanboys. How do people compare such things, alotta people are jealous of GTA SA because its really good. They all say the graphics is bad and watevr, its ps2 and their expectations are way too high. I think the graphics are great for ps2.

I think that the winner of GTA vs SOCOM is all going to be in the eye of the beholder.
Some people like games like GTA more than they like first person shooters. Personally, the majority of games I play are FPS, so I'm going to say Socom. I don't own GTASA but I played it a bunch at my friend's house. I also beat GTA3 and Vice City. While the new things in San Andreas seem cool, it still seems like a single player game that's been rehashed now a third time. Of course, you can say the same thing about Socom 3 when it comes out.. so again, it's all in the eye of the beholder and the personal game style they prefer.
For me, I just prefer the Socom series mainly because of the online play, and the level of skill you can attain. I mean I've been playing Socom forever, and I am still finding new spots, new strategies, and learning new things to just make me a little bit better versus the competition. But none of this would matter if it wasn't for the headset and the way that the online is set up. I keep hearing Halo 2 is gonna be the $hit but how can that be so if there are no organized clans, no friends list, and no headset to speak with one another? (correct me if I'm wrong on the headset as I did hear a rumor you can do that)
If I didn't have online access I'd probably say GTA SA would be a better choice.. To be honest, I'm truly amazed they could leave online play out.. If San Andreas had all the cool new things PLUS the ability to logon online and play with thousands of other players, it would be the $HIZNIT.
But it doesnt.

Well, personally, I think both Socom and GTA took a step down; Socom 2 wasn't as good gameplay-wise as Socom 1; GTA 3 was far more limiting in gameplay than was GTA 2.
Now, you might wonder where I get this from, since there was so much more you could do in GTA 3. Here's the way I reason:
In GTA 2, you had more freedom to roam than you do in 3. Sure, you can go back to old places in 3, but all the gangs hate you and want you dead, that's not what I call peaceful roaming. You were confined to a fairly striaghtforward campaign in 3 and Vice City, which really ruined the series for me. Wow, you could pick from like three missions to do, and then events would always turn out the same. In GTA 2, you could pick which gang you wanted to do stuff for; you had a little measuer of how much the gangs hated or like you on screen: you knew your friends and enimies, and they could change on a minute-by-minute basis. GTA 3 was too restricting, and thus destroyed the initial joy of the game. Whether or not San Andreas will be like this I know not, but I doubt I'll try the game out.
Of course, Socom 2 also went downhill on the aspects I was addicted to, so it really is a bit of a tradeoff. The gameplay was far superior in the first, but the second introduced much better cheat protection.

Now that's something I can agree with.

I tihnk the whole gta series is bull. The first 3d version of GTA blew me away but after that theyve been repetitive like vice city, san andreas the same exact game. please respect me for my opinion.

Very good point, DK, I also think that they never really added anything to Grand Theft Auto after #3 except different stuff that you can do. The linear storyline is also a bummer, but I think that it comes out OK. Not even close to a lot of other games, however. Fundamentally, all that they have done is put the same game in a different city.

i do you "insert explicit word here", the point is thats the whole "niche" of online gaming...the COMMUNITY.see once you figure out the ranking system means nothing, what is left to play for einstein????hmmm maybe to atleast hang out and ******** with some cool peeps...also if your gonna qoute me, qoute the whole sentence not just part of it
see how it makes sence qouted together!!....
qouted from my earlier post "main and only reason i still play socom like i do is the interaction with others. once again ive made some really cool friends i wouldve never met otherwise, how can GTA compare to that?"
so once again id rather on my spare time play with some cool ppl than bottled up in my room alone talkin to myself playin gta3 or whatever....
