New maps = Not worth the $$

Geez think about it.. this game already has enough maps as it is. I don't even know the exact number anymore? 20 or thereabouts?? That's way more than enough, for me anyway...

Last Saturday I tried playing a Medley straight through from first map to the last.. ITS IMPOSSIBLE!! I was playing for hours on end and made it only 3/4 through... You just get burnt out playing for so goddamn long. So think about this.. you put in 3 hours playing.. you get to play what.. maybe 6 maps during that time.. So think about that.. if you play a Medley with these new maps.. you'll play one new map every what.. every 6 hours or so.. so what...

Ok so great, now you get to pay 100+ bucks for the Hard Drive, then another however much for 3 issues of a stupid magazine.. for another 3 maps? Woop dee doo. You'll know them front and back, soon enough, then what do you need to keep you entertained.. more maps?

The reason people play Socom as much as they do, and keep playing it, is because of the GAME PLAY. Look at Socom 1 - it didn't have nearly as many maps as Socom 2, but it's still one of the best games ever, and was very addicting... but it was the game play that kept people coming back.

Tripling (300%) the amount of maps from Socom 1 to 2 for only $50 is a big deal and a great value. Plus you got plenty of other changes going from 1 to 2. They changed the original maps, added all the new ones, fixed glitches, changed some of the gameplay...

But $100+ dollars for 15% more maps? I guess if you bought the harddrive back in the spring hoping that there would be tons of new maps to download, 3 maps might be exciting.. at least your getting something...

But its just not worth it to me... I'll stick with the 20 maps that come with the game, and save my $$ until Socom 3 comes out. Hell, for the price of 3 new maps for Socom 2, I'll save enough to buy a copy of Socom 3 and still have 50 bucks left over for an 1/8th. Now that sounds like a deal!

im excited, what im excited about good sir is somethin "NEW" finally. yeah theres alot of oldmaps now but weve played the **** out of them and they are so easy now(i meaneveryone knows where ot snipe from, throw grenades, ambush, etc for the most part) so 3 new maps would be awesome and almost be like a mini new game. the key to makin a game online last is keepin it fresh, out with the old, in with the new. thats how mmorpg's have such a wide and steady fan base, they are constantly growin and adding new stuff to keep you comin back.

Hey I'm not saying they won't be fun :) I'm just saying that if you don't already have a HD, it's probably just not worth it, dollarswise. If it was as originally advertised, that there would be a bunch of new maps coming out, I'd be all for it. But 3? Thats pretty lame.

I'm gonna agree with AL. I'm not going to spend the money for all that crap just to have a few more maps. I don't want them, nor do I need them. I don't play any other games on PS2 besides SOCOM 2, so it would be a waste to have the HDD for any other reason. And, only 3 new maps really is a joke. People really do get excited over nothing.

Stealing them....

Just go buy them, if everyone steals the demo discs outta the mag, they might reconsider releasing the other maps, dont ruin it for us.

The Thing is, is that some people have been playing since the game came out back in November and playing the same maps for almost a year can get quite boring! yes, alot of people stuck around for the gameplay, but also alot stayed because the promise of new things(maps, guns, skins, etc.)
Socom is addicting and the gameplay is fun, but it's been getting worse and worse! Lag,Glitching,Rank-Up,Resetting the Rank! maybe the maps will bring the spunk back or something!
