IT SEEMS Nvidia may well be right and the PlayStation 3 – complete with cells and the like will not produce any return on invesment at all.
The Toshiba-Sony cell tech will now cost an absolute fortune – as Nvidia predicted, and if we see it by 2005, we will all, at the INQ, fall over in surprise.
Sony and its partners – we estimate – will have to invest at least four billion dollars into an early release.
It's the cell version that will take that time to develop, according to Electronics Design Chain.
But, it seems Sony has decided to call what was to be the Playstation 3 the Playstation 4, according to the same article.
Sony don't seem to have the amount of money needed to develop the super design, yet.

i wouldnt personally care, i mean just lately has the true potential of the ps2 started to shine. it usually takes a year or so for developers to start pikckin up on all the lil stuff to make games great especially on the ps2 which everyone knows is hard to produce games for.
also only one part of that i dont believe...its the part about them not havin the money...they are one of the largest and most respected companies in the word with their wide variety of products how in the hell could they not afford this?

hmmm I'll have to ask my uncle, he knows alot about electronics, but until 2007 JEEZ, I'll be at WORK! Oh well I'll ask him and let you guys know cus I think he has direct link with the ppl of Sony, let see what he says to me.
in my opinion... im perfectly fine with the PS3 for right now. i dont really care about how quickley they come out with it.
i mean, think about it. if they rush to get something done, wouldnt there be problems with it? if a staff were to take their time, look over every component of it many times and fix and refine everything to make it better, wouldnt that be worth the wait?
i can tell you that i believe it would be worth the wait. plus, do you REALLY want to get older quicker? why cant you just wait for the year to roll around and enjoy your life that you have in front of you...
In my opinion, they shouldn't rush out any underdeveloped product/consoles anymore... just look at all the PS2 "disc read error" horror stories that are out there in the world.
They should be smart and concentrate on more material to take advantage of the PS2 HDD add-on for the time being... but they probably wont.

lol me and you both brotha.ive just accepted that i spent 100 dollars the day it came out on a really BIG expensive memory card since i dont play final fantasy either. i even took it off hard drive to make more space for "all those games coming out that will use it" lmao. boy they suckered a few of us :P bastads
p.s. if they dont use the hard drive for games other than socom it will be ok i guess but in a way reminds me of the ole genesis 32X periphial that came out that never amounted to shit cause developers just didnt utilize it with the genesis cd drive droppin not too long after.what i see goin on probly is developers are tryin to figure out games now for the ps3 when atleast a few should utilize the hdd, its a great idea and could push gaming even further if utilized.

I'm perfectlly happy with my PS 2 for now. When PS 3 or 4 or UGS or whatever they plan on calling it comes out, if im going to drop alot of cash on it like I did to get my PS 2 the day it came out I want something good. Something that won't fuck up like PS 2 tended to do so much. Just look at it like this, more time for cool things for the HDD. Maybe they'll even put Socom III out for the PS 2 and a Socom 4 out for the next PS whatever!!!
