Off-Topic...(Long Post)

Lately, I have begun to notice that several implementations could and should be made, especially regarding the Off-Topic discussion. I would like to break this down in depth of my opinions regarding the forum and you may do what you will with them or do nothing. The reason this is in off-topic is because I am also going to add the ongoing debate over Boba in this post. Think carefully before you reply and please do not turn this into another hate thread.

A Bias? Perhaps. I personally do not beleive this to be as severe as it is being made out to be. 7SEALS was rightfully banned for the racism in which he posted, I have no problem with this. I have yet (and keep in mind that I have not looked through every single post) to see a direct bias towards certain people. I am not claiming it isn't there, however, as most mods work through PMs as to avoid public flaming. I think some members are moreso granted privledges as opposed to others being singled out and discriminated against. I will say, in defense of some, that I was shocked to see the clown thread not locked or deleted when some moderators had posted in it. What effect does this have on our members? Some members may be hesitant to join the discussion in fear of being singled out. The solution? I'm not sure, to be quite honest. There are some mods that I truely think are doing a damn fine job and should not be brought into this discussion. I understand the difficulty of maintaining an unbiased opinion on certain issues (The Death Thread) and how to deal with them. My question- Where is TEKNIC? His last post was on March 13th. Where is yabber? His last post was on May 27th. I'm not judging anyone and I am sure they did a wonderful job but we are talking about 3-5 months of idle activity. I understand people have lives and I don't know about them in particular, but I assume their absense is justified. I hope you can understand what I mean, however.

Let's not kid ourselves, it is rare in which Boba's posts get locked or deleted. I have the utmost respect Boba and thoroughly enjoy playing with him and any other forum members on Socom, however, the truth of the matter is that Scuba has a very valid arguement. Looking in Off-Topic Discussion, I count 4 threads solely regarding Boba and his God-Like status as well as his superiority over other members. This is a bit extravagent. I will not lie, I have participated in these useless posts as well and often defended Boba in certain circumstances, especially pertaining to him getting flamed in a totally unrelated thread to which 7SEALS was flamed. There is a very strong arguement, however, that we are quicker to spread praise to certain members over others. I will say this flat out, I respect Scuba (Minus liking Bush ) just as much as all other members of this forum and my personal attack on him was not only uncalled for, it was cheap and in a topic unrelated to him. The fact of the matter is, we do have a bias. Unfortunately, this is a forum and is designed so that we can share opinions and being a moderator is hard to not form an opinion when pertaining to certain posts. I beleive this forum did need a dose of fun posts and often those are the best and Boba brings that to the table. Like him or not, I strongly beleive you should respect every member, mod or not.

Let me be the first to say, under the influence of Scuba Steve, GTno A!m, Shojikoto, Joker, and Bloody,.. this unique blend of newer learning sig makers and older, more experienced artists had done a damn fine job with our sig section. We transformed from a Q & A Photoshop forum to a sig making factory. I am very impressed, however, I would recommend maybe expanding the Graphics Staff membership by a few people. Obviously, we are having a bit of a hard time keeping up with the requests of these talented guys, so by adding more members, I beleive we could more easily handle this type of requests. I understand at our current situation, the number of members is limited to 4 plus Bloody, but seeing as the Global Moderators group contains more, I wouldn't be surprised to see if there was a way to expand this list to a bigger margin.


Main Page
I think an interesting idea would be to also expand the main site, if Veins approves, of course. Someone (forgive me for not remembering the name offhand) mentioned making a seperate site for Walkthroughs, Tips, Tactics, Maps and such in an organized manner. Obviously, this would require help from people in producing maps, tips and tactics in an organized, detailed and easy to read manner. Our tips and tactics section of the forum, as full of great tips and tactics as it is, can be quite hard to sort through at times. Some graphics members, if interested, could help out by rendering maps for single player, and online play. Again, I can understand any hesitation to this idea, however, I beleive it would be a strong implementation to increasing the entire site as opposed to just the forum section. I would be very interested in helping if this was to become acted upon as I'm sure many forum members would be.



Feel free to move this to another section, if you see fit. Also, please feel free to comment on any ideas or statements I have made. With that being said, lets not turn this into a flamefest against anyone. Feel free to voice your opinion, in a non-confrontational way.

This was a little joke thread I made in response to numerous "debates" over the importance of post counts. As I like to do, anytime a heated debate arises, I take a sarcastic, light-hearted approach so we can laugh a little instead of just argue.

This was a complete wiseass thread that I made after hearing opinions on how I can do no wrong and the mods would never "scold" me. Whether it be true or not has nothing to do with me so I felt I shouldn't be flamed for it. I would like to think that the mods give me this so-called leeway because they know I never start with ANYBODY regardless of what they should be attacked for. That would make sense. I'm sure they aren't scared that I'll fly to their house and "teach" them to death.

If there are discussions you don't agree with, don't discuss them or interupt anyone discussing them at that time.

Sogg, please show where I have been biased. I don't care about the other mods, just me. I know without a doubt, that I am not the kind of individual that will play "favorites". If you screw up in a thread and won't admit it, I will jump on your back and not get off until you realize you are a moron.

You guys rarely see what we get done here. I am on in the mornings, and midday. Most of you, the night. You won't believe how much garbage I am deleting of both "People I respect" and "People I don't".

How do you earn a mod's respect? Keep a carefree attitude and don't piss a certain guy off everytime they do a minisule mistake.

Anyways, fantasic post Sogg. Hopefully, some of the guys here that have well over 600+ posts and post one-liners 68.8% of the time will learn by this excellent example.

Also, I state that I really do not beleive the bias is as big as people make it out to be, however, I cannot comment since I have not read every post and every PM. I also stated, that I would moreso assume that people were being favored for, not being favored against.

In response to MrRob, Actually MrRob, I beleive you were one of the Mods in which were doing an excellent job and did not deserve to be mentioned in this thread. The only reason I didn't state names is so that the other mods would not feel like I was singling them out and attacking them, as that was not my purpose at all. The clown thread was stupid, however, and shouldn't have taken a day to clear up. Maybe I am overreacting, but it does seem like Scuba made a decent point against trash posting. A ban? Nahh, too severe. But maybe just deleteing or locking the thread. No harm done. No harm intended.

in response to the sig forum section, i too would like to see more of these people jsut because i would love to have a better sig then what you see right now but i dont want to bother the already busy ones that are hit up everyday with more and more of these request. i have no idea how to use photoshop let alone do i even have it so i would like to see more people so i would be able to respectfully be able to ask one of which to make one of their awsome sigs for myself.

Okay, I want to put my 3 cents in here.

The only thing I want to talk about here is the Moderators. It always seems to be a passionate subject will everyone in this forum. Especially lately.

I agree with Dave about yabber and TEKNIC. I am not sure why they are still Mods if they do not participate anymore. I realize that TEKNIC is a good friend of DaKilla's and I have heard the best Mod we ever had. However I don't think that he will have time to do it anymore.
On the other hand, maybe we just have too many Mods here. Is that the problem? I don't really think so, but I want to point out the opposite view here too. I am sure that some people in this forum do feel this way though. If you make a mistake and you get 5 PM's from different Mods and then get publicly flamed, it tends to make you feel disgruntled. I know I have been there believe it or not.
What? You don't believe me? Well it is true. I used to post under a different name here on the forum, and I wasn't liked very well by some. I guess I talked to much.
So some members say that I am showed favoritism from the Mods. Well it is true that I have a very good rapport with every Mod here and DaKilla. Considering I used to be disliked, I would have to say that I have earned any special favors I receive (I don't think I have ever gotten any). The only thing the Mods have ever done for me is agree with my posts or stand up for me when I get **** on.
You want to know how to get this special treatment from the Mods. I will tell you.

My point is, I think that the Mods are doing the best that they can do. I think that we can all agree that DaKilla is one of the most fair and genuine persons that we all have ever met. So if he thinks enough of each person on the Mod staff to make them a Mod, then they must be doing something right. Yeah they make mistakes, but so does everyone else. Me, Boba, Steve, Dave, Rob, DK have all gone off before and let it get out of hand. It happens we say we are sorry and let it go. That is the way adults should handle themselves.

So let's let them do their job and stop hassling them.

I don't know what happened to yabber, it has been worrying me for a while. He was a great moderator, and a fairly good friend. I hope he is well and is having a great time with life. Remember, it is summer time for schools, he could be on vacation. TEKNIC, my right hand moderator, along with OnimushaWarlord8 (I hope I wrote that correctly). He left and joined the Navy several months ago. I didn't have the heart to take away his 'Moderatorship' because, quite frankly, he hasn't done anything bad, we'll just consider him on vacation as well.

I would be interested in redesigning the entire main page, but would veins agree? I don't really know, since it is his work that we would be removing. I will talk to him and see what he says, and possibly direct him to this post to see what others think. I will make some sort of statement when I have spoken with him.
