I recently found out what actually happened. The bombers were the Real IRA, a splinter group of the IRA. The Provisional IRA (the real bastards of yesteryear) in the area heard what the Reals were planning and refused to let the bomb through their village. The PIRA know all about accidental detonations. Now I have to know... just what is the point in the Real IRA existing if they are the ***** of a defunct terrorist group, never mind the security forces?

    I WIN THIS THREAD

PHILADELPHIA, Monday: The parents of 15-year-old leukaemia patient Josh Morten, who last night passed away after a four year battle with the illness, said they were sorry not to have fulfilled his dying wish to get a blow job from Cameron Diaz.

The courageous teenager told his family two months ago that the one thing he'd really like before he died was to be sucked off by the successful Hollywood actress and former model.

"Josh never asked for much," his father confided. "He never complained about his illness, or made unrealistic demands. So when he requested fellatio from the star of Charlie's Angels and There's Something About Mary we thought, sure, that's the least we can do for him."

But attempts to grant Josh his dying wish proved much more difficult than the family had initially thought. Formal requests inviting the star to perform oral sex on their dying son were repeatedly declined.
"We wrote, we rang, we faxed," Mr Morten explained. "And every time it was the same answer: 'Sorry, Ms Diaz is currently unable to comply with your request.' I mean, how unsympathetic can you get? We're talking about a dying kid here! Would it kill her?"

Mr Morten even made a special trip to Los Angeles, to try to talk to the movie star personally outside the premiere of Gangs of New York. "The crowds were ten deep," he said, "and I'm there yelling out to her from the back: 'Will you go down on my son please!', but she didn't want to know."

With hopes diminishing by the day, Mr Morten placed similar standby requests with the agents representing Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek, but in each case the stars refused to co-operate.

"Who do they think they are, these women!" railed Mr Morten. "They earn millions of dollars and swan about at fancy parties, but when they get a simple request to bring a smile to a young boy far less fortunate than them, they turn their back on you. What kind of world do we live in when a dying teenager can no longer get his **** sucked by a celebrity?"

Couple Arrested for Sex on Lawn at Windsor Castle

LONDON (AP) -- A man and woman have a lot of explaining to do after being arrested Sunday afternoon outside Britain's Windsor Castle. It wasn't for trying to breach security but for being a bit too playful.
Queen Elizabeth II was at the castle, the sentries were on duty, and the large park surrounding the magnificent building was full of tourists. So it didn't take long for people to realize that something was quite unusual.
Witnesses say an inebriated couple arrived from a nearby restaurant and began having sex on a grass bank outside the castle.
One witness tells The Sun newspaper they didn't care who was looking and "just kept going as if they were in their own bedroom."
Japanese tourists even filmed the couple.
Police say the two were arrested and given a written warning about outraging public decency.

Philadelphia-area man charged in beer pong killing

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. (AP) -- One man is dead and another in jail after what suburban Philadelphia police say was an argument over a drinking game that escalated into a fatal shooting.

Investigators say 24-year-old Joseph Jimenez fatally shot 25-year-old Scott Riley after they argued over a game of beer pong at a party Friday night in Bridgeport, about 15 miles outside Philadelphia.

Authorities say the men began arguing over the game then met up outside, where Riley mocked Jimenez and challenged him to shoot.

According to a police complaint Jimenez drew a concealed .40-caliber handgun and fired, striking Riley in the neck. Riley died at a hospital.

Jimenez is being held without bail on first- and third-degree murder charges. It could not be immediately determined whether he has an attorney.

Father uses dog collar to shock kids

The Salem man faces four charges of mistreatment

A Salem man was arrested Tuesday for putting an electric dog collar on each of his four children and shocking them.

Todd Marcum, 41, said he did it "because he thought it was funny," Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada said.

The four children, ages 3, 6, 8 and 9, had been shocked while wearing the collar at least once, according to a statement from their father, Okada said.

Marcum told police that he would chase the 3-year-old boy around with the collar, making him cry at the thought of being shocked. Okada said that because of the boy's behavior, it is likely that the children were shocked more than once.

Oregon Department of Human Services workers on Tuesday summoned police to Marcum's Salem home.

Marcum was taken into custody on four charges of first-degree criminal mistreatment. He is in the Marion County jail.

The four children were left in the custody of their mother, Okada said. The case has been handed over to DHS.

Dog shock collars are used in training and to control barking, said John Seroczynski, the national sales manager for D.T. Systems.

The Dallas, Texas, company manufactures the electronic collars.

It is unknown whether the collar used on the children was made by D.T. Systems.

"There's not one collar made today that can actually burn a dog or a person," Seroczynski said.

Most collars are powered by a 9-volt battery and don't produce a large enough shock to injure a person, he said. Seroczynski said it was not likely that the children were seriously injured.

"He definitely would not have hurt them to the point that it would have damaged any organs or caused them to be hospitalized," he said.

The charge of one collar is less powerful than that of a Taser, such as the kind used by police, he said.

Seroczynski said the collars are not to be used on humans.

"Regardless of what your kids are like, it's sure not going to cure any behavioral problems," he said. "Bottom line is, what he did was dead wrong."

    Wow

Marathon, Florida (CNN) -- It's usually the bad guys who leave ransom notes, but in the Florida Keys, it was the cops who tried it -- and it helped them bag a suspected marijuana grower.

Police say a man called a phone number -- left anonymously by police after they confiscated some marijuana plants -- in hopes of getting the plants back. Instead, the man got arrested.

Monroe County sheriff's department special investigations detectives said they seized six large marijuana plants from a vacant, wooded lot, in Marathon, Florida, after they were tipped off by a citizen. Detectives left behind their own version of a ransom note, hoping to get a response.

"Thanks for the grow!" read the note, which included a phone number. "You want them back ? Call for the price ... let's talk."
Col. Rick Ramsay of the sheriff's office said detectives "were laughing to see if somebody was dumb enough to call back."
About 20 minutes after the note was left, the phone rang, and a man asked what he would have to do to get the plants back, police said.

"They were shocked this guy called. They negotiated back and forth over a price, and finally settled at $200," said Ramsay.

Detectives met the man on a nearby street corner, and he allegedly paid $200 without knowing who he was paying.

Police said a 48-year-old man was arrested on charges of cultivating and selling marijuana as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Ramsay said officers confiscated a ledger book that contained detailed information on the growing operation including "when he planted, fertilized, watered, and harvested."

"He even named the plants. One was TNT, and another was Diesel," Ramsay said.

Santa Fe man demands half a mill for being near iPhone

Arthur Firstenberg is suing his neighbour for $530,000 for refusing to switch off her iPhone, claiming that the electromagnetic fields generated are destroying his health.

Not only does Mr. Firstenberg want the iPhone switched off, but he also reckons that leaving the iPhone and a laptop charging overnight is denying him the sleep he so badly needs, according to the filing spotted by the Santa Fe Reporter. This is apparently why his half-million claim includes $100,000 for pain and suffering.

Mr. Firstenberg isn't new on the Campaigners-Against-Stuff circuit. We reported back in November 2008 how his Cellular Phone Task Force was campaigning to have the government pay for EMF-Free zones where fellow sufferers could hide out.

Since then, he's been trying to find some fellow sufferers and has been running advertisements asking people if the switch off of analogue TV has made them ill. Well, he's asking if the switch on of Digital TV is making them ill, but he waited until analogue was switched off to ask the question - apparently with some success, despite the ridicule of hardened conspiracy theorists.

Apparently, this time it's not just that the iPhone and laptop themselves that are causing problems. The filing alleges that shared wiring between the adjacent houses somehow transmits signals through the walls, "intensifying his exposure".

The Santa Fe Reporter has the filing in full, but we can't help feeling that people like Arthur Firstenberg just give everyone with irrational fears about new technology a bad name.

If cell phones and laptops charging overnight can kill, I'd be dead. I charge my phone every night and my laptop is always plugged in.

Police Car No Place For A Beer
Cops: Florida teen popped open can of Steel Reserve inside cruiser

APRIL 7--Meet Tasha Lee Cantrell. The 19-year-old Floridian was riding in a car early Monday morning when the vehicle's driver was pulled over and arrested for DUI. As a tow truck arrived to remove her friend's car, a stranded Cantrell asked Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Deputy Mitchell Landis for a ride home to her Fort Walton Beach residence. Landis agreed, but only after checking Cantrell's purse for any contraband, according to an offense report. While chauffeuring Cantrell, Landis heard the teenager "open a can of some sort" in the back of the cruiser. "As I looked at my in car video I observed Cantrell drinking out of an unknown can." Landis stopped his car and, upon further investigation, determined that Cantrell had popped open a can of Steel Reserve, a malt liquor known for its high alcohol content. "When I opened the rear passenger door I observed Cantrell attempting to hide the can between her legs. I retrieved this can and noticed it was Steel Reserve Beer," reported Landis, who immediately arrested Cantrell for underage drinking. Instead of being shuttled to her doorstep, Cantrell, pictured in the below mug shot, was rerouted to the sheriff's office, where she was booked on the misdemeanor charge. (3 pages)
